Lafourche/St. Charles area - was expecting a promising season with what we saw for youth weekend but... it has not gone quite as expected. Made 3 decent hunts bouncing around. Had good weather days but not much activity. Down about 60% from what we killed last year for the first split. Hoping and praying that the birds show up for the second split. What you got?

I have been working in black lake 7 days a week for 3 weeks and haven’t seen any flight ducks. Saw my first geese a week ago headed SE (rockafella I guess). Neighborhood pond has wood ducks and whistlers but that’s all the ducks I have seen.
Johnson’s bayou was dead the last week of split, hackberry hit or miss, holly beach hit or miss. Good reports from Coastal Club. Grand chenier spotty.

It's really strange, we're way up over the last few years, but many places are down, in some cases way down.

I think this season so far shows us what all we just don't know.

Who knows what the 2nd split holds, but a front yesterday and another this Friday sure looks promising to start, tho looks stale for a while after this weekend.

6 ducks and a snow goose over four hunts.
Makes me want to throw all my grip in the canal and take a dump in the blind.

A couple of miles to the east they melted a few barrels. North Avoyelles Parish

For the first time in better than 20yrs I didn't hunt opening weekend and haven't even been this year a single time. Funny thing is I really haven't even missed it. Got tired of dealing with asshats that don't know how to hunt or don't know how to be respectful of other hunters. I honestly think from here on out me and my son are just going to pick out a different state each year and do a guided hunt for a few days.

Terrebonne Parish - Orange Grove

19 ducks in 5 hunts from my boat. Mostly teal, a couple ringnecks, couole grays, 1 wigeon. Probably worst year on record. Absolutely miserable. Season high daily was 7.

It’s like quitting the nfl, after a little while you don’t miss it. As I age the work just doesn’t make the deal worth the effort.

I just pivoted back to deer hunting more. Occasionally make a duck hunt with a buddy just to confirm why I quit in the first place.

Me too. One east zone duck hunt so far and counted 6 ducks. Never took the safety off. Sad times.

0 ducks, one shot through 5 hunts. First year with a lease and might be my last.

Chauvin:

5.5 ducks/hunter in the first week.

1.5 ducks/hunter for the rest of the split.

Split average of 4 ducks/hunter with 128 total killed. We had less hunters than usual this split. Opening weekend would have likely boosted the total a lot higher if the usual members had hunted.

9 ducks across 2 blinds, 3 weekends
We are across Chene from Avoca Island. Gets worse every season.

Got about 2000 snipe sitting on a mud flat in the Chene though. Need to figure out a way to get in on that.

2 birds over 4 hunts. Just got back into it after being out for a few years. Kicking myself in the arse for spending the money. I enjoy deer hunting so much more these days

7 and hunted every weekend plus a few weekdays. Worse season so far for me. Opening morning showed a lot of promise and went downhill fast.

Probably the worst season I have ever had in my 40+ years. It’s amazing how bad it actually is.

Haven’t hunted ducks this year but everyone all around me seems to be complaining about slow hunting. Weather has been frigid in TN for a few days but it’s about to be nearly 70 degrees through Christmas. Certainly not the needed weather pattern.

I went for a preserve hunt in SC shot quail/chukar/pheasant over thanksgiving and for a couple hundred bucks we hunted fairly easy terrain and shot a pile of birds, seems like a hell of a good deal when I listen to guys talking about thousands spent on leases, thousands more on boats and gear, work weekends etc at the duck club, only shoot a handful of birds the entire first split.

Hunted almost every day, sometimes going out at 8 and hunting till 11 or noon. Killed 30, with most being wooducks and teal. Had one good day with two limits, but that was it. Just not seeing the migrating ducks or geese like we used to. Not that we killed a lot when we did, but it's always a good sign when you see high flying ducks and geese, especially in a parish full of timber. And we killed 3 last year in the 2nd and 3rd splits.
