I got trapped in a creek bottom with over a half dozen of those things around me with nothing but a bow. Was bow hunting and slipping down this dry creek bed and apparently they were having a goddamned orgy in it. Being almost invisible I didn't spot one till I almost stepped on it, then I started looking around and they were all around me. At my feet. On the walls at eye level. Above me. I like to had a nervous goddamned breakdown walking out of the woods after that.

But did you find the Lost Ark??????

Haha, no. And I didn't shoot a deer either. And to answer Jesters question, that was the last time I ever set foot anywhere near that spot.

I have to invest in some snake boots. Growing up in the swamp I didn't have a fear of snakes and would often go out in tennis shoes or barefoot. Now that I hunt in MS I still don't have snake boots, but I am a lot more careful of where I step. Still can't really see copperheads or rattlers though

I'm not the guy that doesn't know how to ID snakes.

And copperheads are real simple to ID when you're that close to them. I figure there was a female in the group and they were all vying for her charms and I walked into the middle of it. I saw six but I wouldn't be amazed at all if there were more than that.

I always associate the smell of a cottonmouth with the very similar smell of a good bream bed.

Anybody kinda know what I'm talking about? That sorta stagnant water with algae on the surface smell?

No, I can smell bream beds but they smell nothing like that.
