It would probably be a good idea to show up at church Sunday since you saw it before you put your foot down.

fricking hate copperheads.

I got trapped in a creek bottom with over a half dozen of those things around me with nothing but a bow. Was bow hunting and slipping down this dry creek bed and apparently they were having a goddamned orgy in it. Being almost invisible I didn't spot one till I almost stepped on it, then I started looking around and they were all around me. At my feet. On the walls at eye level. Above me. I like to had a nervous goddamned breakdown walking out of the woods after that.

Eek! I've only seen a few copperheads, they were all very pretty, and then all very dead. I wish someone could explain the purpose behind poisonous snakes.

My stupid arse ex BIL heard a rabbit screaming or whatever noise it is and stuck his hand down in a hole to get it. He came out with a copperhead. Ended up in the hospital and damn near lost his arm.

Yea we had one of those experiences frog gigging one night. Pond was surrounded by brush but was low due to it being summer, so we go down to the waterline, and i guess due to the warm days the snakes were waiting till night to become active. When we shined the light around us copperheads were everywhere. I almost pissed myself.

I will go to great lengths to kill a copperhead now.

Extinction won't come soon enough for me. I hate those down to the very fiber of my soul.

Yeah. I scared.

Most of the one's I've encountered in my life have been ALMOST stepping on them. And I recognize them instantly so it just compounds the adrenaline. frick a bunch of copperheads.

I almost stepped right on top of one one time and my leg reacted before my brain stopped my step so I damn near fell right on top of it.

I also got bit by one when I was a kid that I never even saw. Hit me on the side of the foot as I was going through some brush and I thought it was a thorn. Couple minutes later my foot was burning like a some bitch and itching. Took off my shoe and I've got a fang hung in it and a matching hole and venom in my sock and burning my foot where that fang is slowly irritating the frick out of the skin.

Never broke the skin but it burned like a bitch.

Found it. Killed it. Washed sock and shoe and foot in the lake with dirt. Kept fishing.

Seriously. frick those things.

Had many a dogs get bit by copperheads. Had a stray shepard get bit on his nose, whole face swole up, kids all worried. Told em he'd be fine, gave it a benedryl I believe and and it was fine. Our rabbit dogs would get bit, swell but never died. Tough little frickers.

You are lucky in a way. Those critters usually live close to a friend. Quite often there will be two of them in the area. I have heard of several snakes that live in pairs.
