Snake gun for the wife

My wife is on a mission to get rid of the snakes here on the bayou. She sees them on a daily basis. She is educating herself on good vs bad snakes so that she doesnt kill an innocent snake.
So what would be a good gun to buy her for moms day for snake hunting?
Shotgun? Handgun? A handgun that shoots shotgun shells? I am not into guns so i dont know.

If this thread doesn't scream JUDGE! then I don't know what thread would.

I would find a single shot .410 and put a shell holder on the stock. They have multiple layers of safety if you guys don't know much about guns. Perfect for killing snakes.

Taurus Judge, S&W Governor, or Snake Charmer. I'd go for the Snake Charmer because they work well at a few yards or up close.

If you're not worried about the law, you can buy a cheap crack barrel .410 and make your own snake charmer.

This is the right answer

New England Firearms "Pardner" single shot .410, they are simple, inexpensive, abundant, they have a youth model for a shorter reach, perfect snake guns.

I admit, i laughed. But this is the wife's dream home to have a home on the bayou where i can fish from my porch. It was in the marriage vows.
Gotta keep her happy, especially since im about to buy her a gun.

This is the exact setup I keep at the lake house for snakes.

Also, a .410 shotgun will have several choices of ammo. You won't need slugs or buckshot for snakes. A simple bird shot will work just fine.

You're both wasting your time. She should put her efforts into getting over the irrational fear of snakes. Get her a gun, but not for snakes.

The last time I was in Academy, they had a few single .410s.

.410 Citori, filed grade at least. Why have an ugly shotgun about the place???
Seriously, a .410 single shot will make 'em think twice about coming around again and it won't hurt anyone to shoot it….plus they are fun to shoot...get a hand held clay pigeon slinger and a box of pigeons and you have yourself the makings of a fine Saturday afternoon!
I'd think long and hard about a pistol and rat shot...I unloaded a .38 loaded with rat shot at a sizeable western diamond back a few years ago an it made an otherwise relatively sensible snake very angry....it might have killed him sometime later but it didn't do it near quick enough for me to be comfortable...I got back in the truck and left him to work out his issues on his own....
