Boil shrimp in clear water -no season. When water comes to a hard boil put shrimp in. When it comes back to a boil, boil for 3 minutes. Remove from clear water. Place shrimp in cold (faucet temp) seasoned water. Soak for 30-45 minutes depending on how you like them seasoned. Use the same amount of season you would use if boiling shrimp in them. Stir occasionally.
Works everytime for me.

And my wife wonders why I tell the waiter, "sear it and bring it out... No, seriously. Imagine if I considered rare to be medium. Because I do."

I have never once received a piece of meat that I considered my version of rare

Goodness. Boil, boil then add ice, boil then add cold water, boil then...

Guys, the water doesn’t need to boil. Boiling doesn’t do shite. Boiling was an old method to cook and we used to boil (100 years ago) to kill bacteria and shite. If you are using tap water, there’s absolutely no reason to boil shrimp. You boil the water and then add ice, to get the temp lower.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with throwing shrimp in 180 degree well seasoned water and letting them sit for 20 minutes and not doing another damn thing to them.

I get it boiling, turn it off and throw the shrimp in. Soak for about 10 minutes then start eating one every few minutes and take em out when they peel good and taste good.

Don't let sit for 45.

Everything else is right. You don't need no special ingredients...after you kill the burner dump a half bag of ice. 10-15min sit max.

Use a water hose immediately after you cut the flame on the OUTSIDE of the pot, stir the shrimp upwards continuously to lower water temp, and keep the lip off. Max soaking time is 20 mins. Use Chinese pepper instead of cayenne pepper.

What do y’all suggest to season them with after you put them in the ice chest?

I boil for 3 min then take out and eat hot.
An old coonass told me that salt makes the shells stick so i quit doing that. Has worked great. I use butter and lemon in my water then sprinkle with seasoning when they come out.

I boiled some tonight.

I season my water and put in my onions. Bring it to a boil. Then I add in my vegetables (tonight I did Brussel sprouts, asparagus, mushrooms, and eggs). Bring that back to a boil and let it roll for 5 min. Then I add my shrimp and bring it back to a simmer. As soon as I see bubbles I kill the fire and add ice. Let soak for 15-45 min. Perfect as always.

Bring the water to a boil drop the shrimp bring back to boil
Kill the fire yank the shrimp cool down the pot with hose, boil boss, ect. drop the temp of the water to 120° drop the shrimp back in and let them soak as you like according to your taste.

Also a common mistake is the shrimp
Make sure the shrimp are similar in size. If you put a 10/13 with 20/25 then then the small ones over cook abd the larger under cook.

I know its an extra step but it works every time with out fail.

Bring seasoned water to boil
Drop in shrimp
Bring back to simmer and set timer for 1 min
Cut fire and let soak for 10-15
Pull shrimp and throw in ice chest for 10 mins.. dont open lid
Steam helps release from shell
Serve

Works every time unless shrimp is molting, then theres nothing you can do

Not true....it makes everything kind of greasy and gross.

I never really boil only shrimp, so the water is usually already boiling for potatoes, crabs, etc.. When the time is right for those to be finished, cut the fire and put in shrimp. Pull when the shells separate.
