Got a few females in my life that I know aren't going to conceal carry, so I'd like to get them some defense spray for a Christmas gift.

Plenty of choices out there. Suggestions?

Kimber Pepper Blaster is the best one I've seen out there. It shoots a stream of nasty instead of a spray that the wind can carry.

That is more of a mist that compromises EVERYONE around. You want a stream... I mean you want bullets but if you don't have those then a stream is better than a mist.

It's not as potent as spray for humans.

this is what my buddy at EBRSO carried while on patrol. Not sure if they still use it, but that's what he used back in the day.

Bear spray is too big for every day carry. This is small and works well.

Self Defense Pepper spray. It is branded self defense on humans for a reason. A direct hit to the face and I don’t care how jacked up you are, you will not be able to see clearly for hours and it will literally have your face feel like it is melting off. Another benefit is if the perp has to stand in a line-up it is rather obvious who got pepper sprayed.

Please for the love of God do not wasp spray. I mean in a pinch if it’s life or death and you are killing wasps and get attacked by a bad guy, then by all means, however it hasn’t really been proven effective on humans since it is sorta made for killing wasps and honestly if you do use it, you might be the one getting in hot water for using something not made for real self defense.

It will drop a man to his knees in a heart beat.

Don’t believe me?

Buy a can and have somebody spray you in your face.

Let us know how that works out for you.

It’s cheap and you can buy a new can every 3 months.

Freeze Plus P uses a weaker concentration of oleoresin capsicum - which is Latin for "Damn, that shite is melting my eyeballs." It's the active ingredient in pepper spray.

EBRPD has been using the Freeze +P for decades. But keep in mind that after a cop sprays a suspect, he has to then deal with the suspect (handcuff, fingerprint, book into Parish Prison, etc.). My buds at LSP, and instructors I have trained with, all agree that Fox is the hottest stuff. If I spray someone w/ pepper spray, all I want to do at that point is leave the area and call law enforcement to report it. I don't have to (or want to) come into physical contact with the dude (or dudette) I sprayed.

Sabre Red is another good choice. And I'm sure there are other good ones out there. Fox has always been the "gold standard" - - and the new One Point Four version contains double the active ingredient. LINK

Idk, but I’d you use it on humans you don’t have to worry about them messing with you for a while

I think I will pass.

In all fairness, wasp spray is well....it is made for killing wasps. I am sure there is probably a warning on the back of a can that says that it is not meant to be used on humans. So, if you want to use it for self defense and you actually have to defend yourself with it and end up doing damage to someone (I don't care the situation or their motive), they will have a legal case against you. So I ask you, why would you use something that is cheap, not intended for the purpose you wanted to use it for, and actually could make you negligent in a situation that you are actually the victim in?

Absolutly nothing wrong with Freeze or Sabre though.
