Copied from FB LDWF

Search and rescue crews recovered the body of a missing boater in Lower St. Martin Parish this morning, Feb. 28.

The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office recovered Seth A. Falcon, 38, of Pierre Part, from the Banister Canal around 9:00 a.m. His body was turned over to the St. Martin Parish Coroner’s Office to determine an official cause of death.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends, and all who knew Mr. Falcon. ??

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agents were notified around 8 a.m. on Feb. 25 about a missing boater in Banister Canal and responded to the scene immediately to conduct a search.

According to a nearby commercial fisherman, he came across an unmanned 18-foot aluminum vessel with a tiller steer motor and called authorities. When agents arrived on the scene, they found evidence to suggest the boat hit a pylon ejecting the operator into the water.

According to the operator’s last known contact, he left to go fishing with his dog around 3 p.m. on Feb. 24 and never returned. The dog was found on a platform near the boating incident site and returned to the boater’s family.

The LDWF Enforcement Division along with deputies from St. Mary, St. Martin and Assumption parish sheriff offices were involved in the search of the missing boater.

The LDWF Enforcement Division is the lead investigative agency for this boating incident. Falcon’s body was recovered without wearing a personal flotation device.

Thank you to all those who aided in the search for our fellow sportsman, St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office

Unfiltered with Kiran has a photo of Mr Falcon. He appears to be as able bodied and avid outdoorsman as any of us.

I didnt start start wearing PFD with big motor on until I had kids. I now wear kill switch too. My parents never wore seatbelts. I wonder if wearing PFD will be as common in a generation.

RiP Mr Falcon

I was a green jeans in the 90’s.

100% of the bodies i recovered did not have on a life jacket. Most were in the basin. Single operator, tillar handle.

One was two bass boats hooked up that hit head on in bayou benoit. Terrible.

There was a well known outdoor writer and herpetologist named Kelly Falcon that came from down in that area. Passed away many years ago.

I wonder if Seth was related?

RIP Seth.

With modern inflatables it's a no brainer to wear one. I came back from a fishing trip, got in the truck went down the road a little ways and my son asked me if I was going to wear my life jacket all the way home. Told him I forgot I had it on.

I didn’t until I was in a boat that went down. I’m lucky to be alive. The throwable popped up near me and saved my life.

It’s a boat rule now. PFD’s have to be worn when the boat is under power.

I’m upgrading this year to the Mustang PFD that turns you on your back in case you’re knocked out.

I’ve got 3 rivers I float in my drift boat that have questionable sections/rapids and I always wear my PFD in those areas. I was lucky once. I don’t expect another chance.

I didn't start using the kill switch and wearing PFD till moving to Alaska. Now it's just second nature to me.

Take it from a whitewater junkie that PFD will do more than just float you if thrown from the boat.

And it's padding in a lot of the right spots.
