I had one for a few years. Bought it right when they first came out.
Absolutely hated the trigger but it was great to carry. I installed the clipdraw on the side of mine so I could tuck it in a waistband in some shorts where the pockets were too small or didn't have pockets at all. Never that accurate due to the long heavy trigger and the short grips. Eventually got an XDs in 9mm, single stack and that is my go to carry gun most of the time now.
That being said, there are much better options out there now, unless they have drastically improved upon the original design.

id def go with a lc9 over the 380.

It’s cheap, so I don’t care what happens to it.
I can also shoot it much better than I think it should.
The little holster it comes with is pretty magic- it doesn’t print in jeans and when you grab the grip, it comes right out like it should.
For all the haters- holes hurt. It’s easy to say it’s not enough gun. But I bet if
you got shot with a .380, you wouldn’t say that anymore.

I have the LCP 380 max. I use it as a pocket gun just to throw in my pocket for quick runs to grocery etc. I’ve put 200 rods through it with no issues. It’s a pocket carry/backup now really a primary weapon. I would get the max over the regular LCP. PSA usually has them for $200. Buy a few 12 rd mags to go with it.
Best carry ammo is underwood extreme penetrator. Do not carry HP ammo in .380. It doesn’t get enough penetration.

Ruger just released an LCP Max Magpul collab. I have a BG2, and it has an excellent recoil management design. I’d like to shoot the new Max/Magpul to see what it’s like.

It's a 10 foot gun. Use as last resort, which us what pockets pistols are for.

.32 HR mag? Easier recoil to manage. Six bullets. Small and light weight. Has enough punch to work. Revolver.

Trigger is garbage.
The whole pistol itself is pretty poor.
.380 wouldn't be my first choice as a carry weapon but I wouldn't want to get shot with one.
But, if that's what you can afford, get it and train a lot with it. I'd suggest +P 90gr. defense rounds. Highest velocity ammo you can fine to make sure you get full expansion

If this is the one it takes fists of steel to rack and the worst trigger ever, I’d highly recommend against it. S&W makes a much more comfortable shooting .380 Shield EZ that I carry with. It’s a bigger gun but I’d take it 10/10 over the LCP

I have the LCP Max. As others have said, you aren’t carrying an assault with the pistol and you damn sure aren’t Annie Oakley. But it’s tiny and it fits in the pocket.

If you're not an 80 year old woman it's not difficult to rack. The trigger pull is long but it's not terrible, no worse than your average double action revolver.
It's not a sophisticated weapon but it's a pretty good tool even if they did rip off the design.

I don't know how much it's been updated, but I had an LC9 years ago. It's the only gun I've ever sold. Got it due to it's size and didn't pay attention to anything else. Trigger was absolutely terrible.
