Stock for stock, the marlin .22 is a work of art. You can shoot out the xring at 70 yards.

Model 60 is the rifle you buy with a box of cheap bulk ammo take out of the box and just shoot the shite out of it.
10/22 is the rifle you buy because everyone says how awesome they are and you are never quite happy with the way it functions until you sink money into it.
I do love a good Tube fed rifle as a woods rifle. I also love my 10/22

Hope he doesn't read this forum. He might get the idea that I was trying to cheat him.

I bought mine with the expectation that I'd be sinking money into it, so I guess I didn't have the letdown that you all are talking about.

Why didn't you buy a CZ 512 that would be perfect right of of the shelf?

can't speak much to the 10/22, have only shot them a few times. But my old crusty model 60 is a tack driver

my marlin 60 must be a 1 in million rifle in a bad way, years ago my dad brother and I each got a 60, their's were squirrel killing tack drivers out to 50-75 yards, neither one of us could keep 3 shots inside a tennis ball sized circle at 30 yards with mine no matter what adjustments we made to it, got my money back with a quickness...

What are your thoughts on these rifles ? And which do you prefer ?

10/22 because of all the aftermarket support.
The reason there is so much aftermarket support for it is because it needs it.
I much prefer my Marlin Model 6079 (the Skwirl Kill'r) or my Remington 552 over my 10/22.

I bought a Marlin model 60 about 8 years ago and I wish i would have bough a 10/22. My action is so freaking rough it makes the gun feel like a piece of shite.

The newer Marlins are not the same quality as the older ones made up until the 1990's.

I used to knock pine cones out of the tops of trees at 50 yards, no sweat, with iron sights. Of course, that was 20 some off years ago. I wouldn’t trade my marlin for anything, but the damn 10/22 is a fine shooting gun too.

I snagged my dads marlin model 60 when I was a teen and never gave it back. I’ve shot 1000’s of rounds through it and y’all are making want to drag it out again.

I got mine out and gave it a good cleanin.
