I’m wanting to begin collecting more guns. I currently own an 18 and 20 gauge Remington Automatic. In the past year I purchased a Sig 45 caliber and CZ 9mm. My most recent purchase is an AR Sig M400 snakebite SE. It’s time to buy a safe for my current collection and the others to come. I’ve been looking at the Browning and Liberty brands. Anyone have any great recommendations on a safe they have and love?

Buy twice the size safe you think you need. They never hold what they say they’ll hold and you’ll always buy more guns. And your wife will also give you all manner of “valuables” to put in it.

In the past I would recommend Browning. I have an older medallion and a newer Hawg. I haven’t had any issues with the medallion at all. The hawg has some cheap clips that hold the top of the rifle barrels in the door. I’ve had one rifle fall when opening and another close but I was watching for it and caught it. I’ve talked to the Pro steel warranty people and never get an answer or any call back . I fixed it myself with some 1/4 round rod but you’d think browning would be interested in correcting that . I should never need another safe but if I do it won’t be a Browning.

I bought a Liberty Colonial 50 from Mike Liberty gun safe. Always get bigger than what you think you need. Mikes deliver and it’s worth it. My safe weighs 900lbs empty and worth every penny to have it delivered.

I recently listened to this podcast talking about gun storage. The premise was, that all gun safes suck and if somebody wants them they can get them. They suggested spreading them out in several smaller safes. I thought it was interesting, figured I’d share here.

Yeah I agree. I just thought it was an interesting listen. I always thought I wanted like a zillion gun safe anchored into my foundation until I listened to that. Just wanted to share it.

Liberty. And buy twice to three times the size you "think" you want.

Pretty much everything in the 500-1200$ range is the same. You have to step up to at least 5k to get a true vault like safe.
I have a stack on and it’s fine for what I need which is a crack head smash and grab, safe crackers don’t break into regular houses that’s only in movies. Assume the safe holds half the guns it is advertised to hold, mount it to the floor in a back room closet out of view from anyone visiting. Running out of room is not a bad thing cus then you can split your guns up so that a thief has to pick which one he wants to tear into. I really think a metabo would cut one open in less than 10mins though.

Seems to be true for all makes and models.

Prolly the result of design engineers. They took the square area of a crack barrel 20ga and ruger lcp then just multiply that times whatever number to derive total guns held!!

I always use total weight of the safe as a pretty good indicator of quality, figure out how much you want to spend and get the best/heaviest you can, also understand any safe can be hacked, the better the safe just slows that down a tad, supplement your safe with a gun insurance policy, hard to beat eastern insurance company firearms and collectibles policy for $150/yr, also don’t be stupid and put large amounts of cash or valuables in there, too many cases of robbers putting a gun to your (or family members head) demanding you open it

I found this one from Browning which is about 1k less than I have been seeing in the local stores and online. If shipping isn’t too much, this is a great deal. You can also get an additional 10% off of that price.

I went with a browning primal 49, back when I only had a handful of firearms(I only have a pink daisy and a gamo swarm now though) Definitely buy a safe with double the firearm capacity than what you anticipate on having. Scoped guns take up 2 spots, bolt handles rubbing, etc.

If you’re referring to the 10 or so clips with the feet on the bottom in the brownings, I popped the feet off and hang holsters from the clips now. Completely useless. If you have any firearms on the front row of the safe, the feet hit the stock and you can’t close it. Fricking pointless feature. Would’ve been happier to buy it as a 39 gun safe with a bunch of pockets in the door instead.

I’ve got the Liberty Fat Boy Extreme. Bad arse safe. Super pleased with the size. And Liberty safes look great.

I have the 39 gun and love it. As others have said, go bigger. In 10ys I’ve outgrown it.
