I need to pick up a new pair for work. What’s the best pair? No real budget. Will be used in south Louisiana so they need to be pretty breathable.

Toes are pretty expensive these days I agree. Best to steal them

Ariats.

Especially if you don't wear boots regularly.

Twisted X. Have tried Justin's and Ariats but Twisted X is by far the most durable and most comfortable steel toe I have worn

Well I'll probably get called a phag for this one but rockport makes a steel toe shoe that is like sperry boat shoes... super comfortable and actually really durable. They're obviously not good if you have to walk in more than like an inch or 2 of water, but for dry ground, they're nice.

I wear Red Wings every day. Whatever brand you choose make sure they are American made. The boots will fit better and hold up better.

I’ve got some boots from WALMART that are pretty good. I’ve had them for a year. They’re square tie and look very similar to ariat. $70.

I can’t remember the brand but the box is yellow and has a picture of a bear on them.

A lot of guys at work wear the Ariat Work boots but I’m wearing the Justin originals and they’re really comfortable. A little heavy but I feel like I’m wearing shoes moreso than boots. FWIW, I wear and walk around in these 5-6 days a week about 10hrs a day.

ETA: I think I’m gonna go with lace ups for my next pair and see if I like em

Red Wing

They will last so much longer than other boots

I have a pair of Iron Rangers on right now---not steel toe--they are a couple of years old and are still in very good shape (Hint--buy a cheap set of cedar shoe trees and it makes a lot of difference on the life of boots---also go to the Red Wing store and let them measure your foot. The shoe will be a little tight when they fit you and a few days latter it will sort of mold to your foot.)

Man I would take a good look at Thorogood boots. I have the lace ups and they’re a really comfortable and nice looking boot.

What type of work will you be doing?

This is the most important thing, also, what are you going to be walking on? Working on concrete, grating, a boat, barges.

I work 50/50, in the office, limestone fab yard and walk on grating decks and climb ladders a lot. My Georgias are holding up great and really comfortable, I wear them around the house a good bit and even wear them fishing.

ETA; This is what I wear.
