Got dayum why would you trap something and not kill it? There's probably some poor sap that's dropping a bunch of trapped ones off by your house while you drop them off by his houe.

I have to trap it to catch it, regardless of whether or not I let it live. Nobody is letting coons loose in my neighborhood in the middle of town. If I let him go, it will be 12 miles out of the city limits near a creek. Some country folks can shoot him, dress him out, and have him for Sunday dinner.

Trash pickup around here is Tuesday and Friday. I set the traps out Monday and Thursday. You don't want a dead one sitting in your garbage can mid Tuesday until Friday.

Got another one!
Alright I know I've found the secret to trapping them now but you'd think a night or two would pass before catching another one.

Where in Metairie are you at? Are you next door to a large wooded area or a park?

Nope! Not too far from Bucktown. Not where I'd EXPECT to see so many critters. I just can't get over how many there are around here and can only imagine what it's like near Lafreniere Park. I have a neighbor who walks her dog morning and evening and she says she sees lots of possums. This is like # thirty for me in two years. I can't help but wonder what it's like where they're not being trapped. Ridiculous!

We had nutria under the slab of our house in Metairie, but I fixed their asses and the problem was solved.

Possums are all over New Orleans, but the amount you're catching seems crazy to me. I don't know how large their range is. Maybe you're attracting every possum in a mile radius with brats and chicken feed.

Yeah, the chicken feed may be gone soon. The girls aren't laying as much as they used to so they may be gumbo soon. I'll continue to do my part to get rid of the possums though. The thing about the chicken feed is they can't get to it.

The wife told me a few minutes ago that the dogs were after something in one of the orange trees early this morning. Might have been another one that was with the trapped one.

It seems like something must have been attracting them before you started trapping them. Chicken feed? Dog/cat food? Do possums eat oranges? Or maybe Metairie has as many possums as it has people!

Keep up the good fight! I've been murdering those things since 2015. They are pretty thick in Old Metairie and the Bonnabel area. Squirrels are out of control as well.

I was grilling last night (standing next to side of the house) and I thought the breeze had blown some leaves onto the back of my leg. Look over... nope. Its a possum's tail on me and he is just sitting there. I damn near had a heart attack.

An hour later and hes now in possum heaven.

Well, one finally made me mad. Trapped it in our front flowerbed and put it out of my misery.

I was just beginning to think that just MAYBE I had eliminated all of the possums and I go out and check the trap this morning and I'll be darned if there's not one in it. So the battle still rages on. This is number 31.
