Yeah, but coons are meaner and bolder.

I use a T Ball bat for them. Have a bunch trapped in deer club. They eat the feed we put out for deer.

Shooting w an air rifle would be more humane, but drowning in a washtub is quiet, no blood.

Yeah but they all have to potential to get as big as the last one.

Doesn't mean they're not a nuisance. Even kangaroo in Australia(most well known marsupial)can be a nuisance.

Sure, they can be annoying if you leave pet food or trash outside for them to scatter, but they are tick killing machines for sure. For every possum you kill, that's about 5000 ticks a year that survive. I'd much rather have the possums than the ticks and lyme disease. Plus, they are practically immune to rabies and venomous snake bites. Interesting critter for sure. LINK

I'd bet that more so applies to a rural setting as opposed to suburbs. Supposedly they eat/kill ticks via grooming habits but I have never caught one that didn't stink the high hell. Most have been mangy looking. We don't have a tick problem and I'm not interested in the potential of a vet bill again for my dogs.

That's all fine and dandy if you don't have a dog.
Since we have a doggy door, my two can go out when they want, and they have been doing some barking at night. Stupid arse opossums and armadillos have been in my back yard. For one, i don't want my dog getting bit by these disgusting animals, and B, i'm tired of having to holler at them to get their asses inside and quit the damn barking.

Good ole Remington sub sonic .22 bullets do the job just fine, and i live in a neighborhood. I've told my next door neighbors that i've shot a few over the last few weeks and none of them have heard anything.

Something set the trap off last night. Gate shut but nothing in it. Might have been a big one.

I found that cat! Lol......
Trapped another one last night. Over the weekend something went in the trap and tripped it but it failed to catch whatever it was. Monday I found a couple of brats in the fridge from almost two weeks ago and rather than throw them away I tossed one in the back of the trap. Yesterday morning the brat was gone but the trap didn't close. So, yesterday afternoon I took about 1/3 of a brat and tied it with a thin flexible wire and rigged it so that if anything picked up the bait it would trigger and the trap door would shut. It worked like a charm! Got that critter!

Garbage can filled with water. Drop whole trap in and wait 10 minutes.

Will your wife be upset when a curious coon, armadillo, or opossum comes in through the dog door?

I need to try baiting my squirrel cage with dog food.

This coon is eating up my bird seed.
