Krestion..... m4 /ar, m4 upper I thought m4 was short barrel but the m4 has 16” barrel, is that considered carbine? So ar is 20”?

Still a carbine. Check to see if it has a midlength or carbine gas tube

Midlength is a little softer shooting, but carbine is fine.
You'll get mixed opinions on lowers but they're all the same for the most part. If you're getting a PSA upper, any PSA lower will be just fine.

What he said; PSA or any reputable manufacturer. Just buy whatever rollmark you like, because with CNC machining lowers (and uppers) just aren't that difficult to get right.
A trigger is the most worthwhile upgrade IMO for an AR. The stock triggers are just awful, and even if you polish the contact points to a mirror shine they don't get much better. It's a function of the geometry.

Very nice. On the house gun I’ve got a Surefire DF with the cloud defense LCS tape switch holder thingy. Works well. Now if you really want to go over board get an OWL or a modlite OKW. Light sabers the both of them.

Fenix is my go to. Use them for work and home. Have streamlite for work and they work fine but that’s what my company buys. I personally like fenix products better.

I remember the days when a man could build any flavor of AR at will if he had cash and a few days for shipping.
Has anyone heard a peep from any of the manufacturers when they expect to have product back? Most of them have been out of stock for weeks now, but there's no way they've stopped prodcution, so where's all that production going? I'm building an Aero SBR and I'm on their "email me when you get stuff" list and have heard nothing. Finding the upper is going to take way longer than dealing with the ATF, and that's just insanity.
All of the manufacturers seem to be radio silent and I was kind of hoping that they'd be giving updates.

I’m in the middle of a higher end .300 blk build.
Q had the honey badger barrel assembly and rail in stock. Processed and shipped within a few business days. Can’t recommend the service from these guys enough.
Got lucky and found a Noveske lower at my local gun store.
Noveske told me about a month out on my marked Vltor upper, which was the only upper they’d even let me place an order on.
Optics Planet was about the only place I found that would let me order Noveske components to finish out the upper. Just got my BCG today, charging handle should be in next week.
All in all I’ve ordered from 6 vendors, whereas previously it probably would have been 3. Start to finish, my estimate is that it will take 2 months to complete, rather than 2 weeks.
