Thats kinda what I was thinking on the m855 that it wasn't a good idea. Penetrate some...yes...but not real reliable at any expansion or fragmenting so putting a bunch of .22 holes even tho you had 2x as many rounds on hand as the gold dots.
The only argument for m855 is quantity.
But Im choosing the gold dot or the 64gr power point.

I'm reloading so it isn't quite the same but I'm using hornady 68gr match in my last batch of ammo.
have about 500 and will add another 1000 or so to that.

500 rounds of Speer gold dot 62g soft point (quality ammo probably accurate and deep expanding)
All day. Err day.
The M855 is great if you're shooting someone hiding behind a wall at 200 yards and absolutely cannot use expanding rounds. Unless you're running and gunning with the rest of your recon platoon, this round isn't of much use for your everyday type of AR. You're just going to punch .224 holes in bad guys in your living room with that.
I don't know much about the PPU. It might be good stuff, but I have no idea.
Speer Gold Dots, on the other hand, I do know about and would trust my life to. They expand quickly, dumping a HUGE amount of that 5.56 energy into the target and creating a sizable permanent would cavity and will end a threat IMMEDIATELY.

Thats where I was at...only because I dont know much about the PPU SP. I would rather less rounds of something know to work like the gold dot or something like it.

First time building a lower. Any chance they send extra springs sometimes?
Posted on 6/26/20 at 2:13 pm to mylsuhat
Did you use springs for your takedown pivot and pin detents? And also the safety selector detent? If so then yeah those are the extra, never received any extras in my kits though
ETA: if that tape is to prevent your takedown pin from falling out, then yeah one of em goes there. There also doesn’t appear to be a spring through the hole where the pivot pin detent goes.

So takedown pin was one
I legit thought it was it (it was) but must have fallen in
One pin and one gold set thing remain
ETA: pivot pin dent?

Other one goes in the end of this raised area. Spring first then detent (“gold thing”). Getting this one in is by far the most difficult part of the build, but it ain’t too bad. Good luck

So there is a spring and detent there in the horizontal direction. From the front to the back.
Posted on 6/26/20 at 2:51 pm to mylsuhat
The only other spring that resembles that goes to the detent that retains your safety selector. Its inserted in the bottom of the receiver between the receiver and pistol grip. It’s slightly larger than the takedown pivot and pin’s springs. Does your safety selector have an audible and tactile click when you flip it?

I have the one in the safety. Are there two up front?
Posted on 6/26/20 at 2:58 pm to Soul Gleaux
also one behind the castle nut for the rear takedown pin.

I thought he said he put one of the two there, and already had one in the front. Leaving one extra. Maybe they send an extra for the front these days since it often gets shot out into oblivion

I have one for the safety (held in by the grip), one in the front pin, one in the take down pin.
I know one of the plastic packs had 2 springs and detents. Maybe that was a redundancy?
The trigger fires. The safety clicks. The buffer tube spring locks in place. The magazines lock in. Idk what else it could be.
Any chance it’s for the brace?

That doesn't sound very safe.

Looks like an extra detent and spring from that pic.
