Yep, 2 pins but 3 springs and detents per that stock photo. Looks like they send and extra. Hold on to that bad boy for future builds.

I wasn't sure about the PPU SP....are they more varmint rounds and wont penetrate enough?

PPU is good stuff, and 55gr is actually a plus if you're concerned about wall penetration.
YouTube gel test
They also make a good 75gr (or maybe 77?) OTM round.

I have a bunch of Gold Dot 75gr that I caught on sale at Palmetto State loaded into my oh crap mags, but I've got a few hundred of the PPU sp as well.

Nothing worse than having a detent spring launch itself across the shop. Damn thing is small and blends in just about anywhere lol.

You make this mistake once, and go over the top to make sure it never happens again

Seems like a decent entry level AR though.

It's probably better than decent. ARs aren't like cars, where a Lexus is going to be objectively better than a Hyundai. Make sure it's reliable, which it almost certainly is, and if you're not a competitive target shooter it's going to perform as a self defense rifle exactly like a $2500 Daniel Defense would.

I used to assemble my lowers in the living room because I could spot the spring and detent on the wood floor. Lost a trigger pin on a white tile floor once.

I watched that vid earlier today as well. Seemed pretty good just maybe a little light on penetration. He was using a 18” barrel tho so maybe if it slowed down some in a shorter barrel it would penetrate a little more. I have 16” and 11.5” barrels that I’d used it in.

Picked up some gold dot 75gr today as well. It’s the person defense box not the duty. It’s supposed to perform better in 16” or less barrels. Supposedly the regular stuff doesn’t do as well in the shorter barrels. No idea.

No matter how much coal you have, you always wish you had more.

I have a timney trigger on mine that is pretty light pull, and I'm pretty damn fast on it. I believe I'll stick with that.

As do I, so I picked up a case of that PPU 55g SP to try .385c/round to my door. Not bad considering the current climate I guess not sure what it went for in the past.

Speer Gold Dot 62gr (24445SP) vs Federal Tactical Bonded 62gr (LE223T3). Anyone have opinion on either? The Federal cost more...

They're both bonded; I doubt there's a measurable difference. OTM rounds are impressive in gel as well. There's a school of thought that for a caliber that small fragmenting is better than bonded, and OTMs go all over the place.

Plenty of folks put down by 55gr FMJ when it tumbles correctly, it just doesn't always do that. That's why shot placement always trumps bullet design.
