CTR on my build and I like it.

What barrel do you have? Shooting suppressed?
I have a BCM H buffer on my go-to 10.3" that works perfect suppressed and unsuppressed. Don't see any real need to go up to H1 or H2.

9.5" noveske barrel. Suppressed with SiCo Hybrid.

You're probably getting a fair amount of bolt bounce with just an H in a 10.3" unless you're running an adjustable gas block. I'd go H2 or even H3 from someone who uses actual weights and not tungsten powder in their buffers.

I'm a fan of the Magpul ACS. I have one on my SBR.

Sold under several brands but I really like the Ti-7 stock. It's like a SOPMOD and CTR had a baby.

As far as comfort and weight, hard to beat a sopmod for the stock for me personally. The stock is one of those things that truly just depends on the shooter, all boils down to you. All the ones mentioned are great, solid stocks, I've tried pretty much all of them. The sopmod just shoulders so nicely for me. I run the newer H2 JP silent captured springs for my buffers, with Govnah gas blocks. Have both of my SBR's running smooth as can be both suppressed and unsuppressed, with zero gas to the face.

I just tried the slr adjustable gas block and couldn't imagine having anything else

Another stock that I haven't tried but am starting to really like the looks is the strike industries Viper

I'm in the market for a light for may AR15. I'm not looking for top of the line but I don't want a cheap peace of crap either. I just purchased a Vortex Red dot. That's the kind of quality I'm looking for in a light.

I was intrigued by those JP silent captures, but couldn't bring myself to drop $175 on a buffer
On the same token, I did drop some coin on the Radian Raptor SD charging handle that's "ported", and it has worked well. But the gas port on my BA barrel wasn't over-gassed to begin with, so I don't need that much mitigation on the back end.

I tried the Griffin Snach CH, it's ported like the one you mentioned. Worked great for my 9" 300BLK, but the 11.5" 5.56 was still gassing the hell outta me despite the CH port.

Is a Bushmaster a good place to start getting into AR's for the beginner? 600-700 range?
Or should I look for something different?

Bushmaster used to be a great place to start. Don't think so since they sold out & moved.
Colt AR6720 is where I'd start, or
Colt LE6920 (any 6920 has rebate for FREE 30 Rd PMAG & Rifle Case) or
OEM-1 Version of the above, where you select your own stock, sites, trigger guard, handguards & magazines, OR,
if you are a real bargain hunter,
Colt Expanse CE2000HB...FREE Red-dot site & 30 Rd PMAG (with Rebate), plus the Carbine comes with a Colt 30 Rd USGI style magazine.
Be sure to get the exact model I stated, especially with the Expanse. Mine was $682, out the door. CE2000HB has the SOCOM Heavy Colt 1/7 Chrome-lined Barrel, 14.5", pinned & welded Flash hider to make it legal.

Buy a Sulzer Firearms Recon.

Colt makes a pretty good gun but I'd just assume to buy something else. It's mostly name with Colt now in my opinion only.

Yup. Only reason to go Colt is the rollmarks if you want to build a mk18 or mk12 clone.
