Personally I would get a R700

Never get a new one. They earned the name Rustington for a reason. Quality on new Remington products has gone down the shitter.

OP, also consider finding a Remington action, having it blueprinted, then throwing it in a Manners stock with a McGowen/Bartlein/Shilen/etc barrel.

What's makes the tikka better than the browning or is the argument that they are the same quality at a different price?

I bought an x-bolt stainless stalker 2 years ago and it's the best shooting rifle that I've ever owned. I haven't yet shot a Tikka but I've been extremely impressed with it so far

I like them personally. They might be a little high but they are great hunting rifles out of the box to me.

Those 90's model A Bolts are awesome looking guns. Traditional with a little bit of country swagger. Just nice

Savage has a nice rifle. I really like the accutrigger.

Better action, trigger and accuracy.

Xbolt probably has the better stock and magazine. Although I like my Tikka Hunter stock just fine.

MOA guarantee too. Its just a better gun, not JUST a better value.

I have a savage model 12 and I absolutely love it. Great trigger, very smooth action, accurate and well balanced.

Stick with Browning son, Stay away from the Tikka and Sako junk. It is just an OB fad. We laugh at them when we see them in the field. They just dont get it

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to look at Savage and Ruger and then purchase.

The Tikka is the OB's Donald Trump of rifles. They can't tell you what they like about them, but everything else is shite in comparison.

Well, I like the awesome trigger, extremely tight groups, light weight, and price point.

They are extremely nice rifles and the popularity is well deserved. Mine is probably the worst shooting one I've ever shot, and that's just because it won't shoot every single thing you put in it sub-MOA.

We have a couple X-bolts and a few Tikkas at the camp, both are great rifles. I would find which ever one is the better deal at the time and roll with it.

Have a Tikka and Sako. My next one will be the xbolt regardless how much people tell me they suck.

I shoot a friends xbolt everytime I get the chance. That gun fits me like a glove and is more accurate than I am.
