You are mixing up the 10r140 (fords HD 10 speed) with the half ton truck version.

I know they solved the problem in the smaller 10r60 and 10r80 transmissions back around 2022. Those two are similar if not identical, just scaled differently, but I don't know if that design logic holds for the 10r140.

Having recently been through the truck buying process they all have potential issues and those are magnified online. You've just got to do your homework and see which risks you want to live with.

From what i am told the 10R140 is a blank-sheet ford in house design. I would have no heartburn about having one

Of course, I have a 68rfe, so clearly I am ok with owning junk.

Allison is not back on GM 2500's or 3500's

I completely agree. Allison does not make the 10L1000 but allows GM to brand it. I never said it was a true Allison.

You’re incorrect in assuming both transmissions are the same. GM and Ford cooperated to build the light 10 speed transmissions found in half ton trucks but they did not come together to build heavy duty transmissions.

The 10R140 is actually doing really well since 2023. Be careful watching Dave too much on Youtube. Yes there’s issues to address with all trucks but Dave makes money off people buying his prevention kits and clicks from social media. Criticism drives clicks. You don’t see videos from the thousands of happy owners making 200-300k miles on their trucks.

The Ford Super Duty is likely the best HD diesel on the market. Ford has quietly fixed the CP4 issues with Bosch and worked out the issues on early 6.7s such as the turbo. The Powerstroke likely has the best emissions on the market especially after adding the 9th injector in 2023.

Downshift is right to stay away from Ram until they work out the Cummins. Hydraulic lifters are a huge problem that they keep having issues with along with electrical gremlins.

GM’s Duramax is good but their transmission still needs improvements and I’m not a fan of independent front suspension.

Add another vote for the 7.3 250. Got a 23 brand new and have really enjoyed it. Gas mileage isn’t great but the price difference between gas and diesel makes up for it. Plenty of power and getty up.
