Sadly, it is a non-venomous water snake.

I don't like snakes, but people need to work on ID'ing snakes before the kill harmless ones.

It was non-venomous. I wouldn't have killed it. Looks like some kind of water snake.

Maybe you can now tell her . . .
. . . it was dead long before it stopped moving.

All of you bitching and moaning about a damn dead snake need to drop one off at your Mom's door step and see what happens...

Who ever downvoted me has never handled a water snake. Dead or alive.

Hell I’m suprised she didn’t shoot it with her Glock
She’s used to snakes because I always caught snakes growing up and kept them for pets.
I was always killing something, catching somehting or rescuing something. I found a momma possum that got ran over and took the babies home and put it in our dog crate

And she should kill it again and again and again.
She’s a 71 year old woman who lives by herself 75% of the time on 60 acres. She’s not out killing snakes in the yard. The damn thing came into the house.

Nerodia erythrogaster aka Plain Bellied Water Snake or Yellow Bellied Water Snake. Completely understand why your mother shot him out of fear but I can assure you she wasn't attacked by this harmless snake.
