Some of the Lake Chas VFWs has Cajun music for on weekends. Seafood Palace is a hole in the wall good gumbo and Cajun food. Steamboat Bills by the casino has good fried shrimp. Pats of Henderson is a nicer place that does decent Cajun. If your up to a little drive DIs in Basile has good food and Cajun music, really cool place. Hacketts does awesome plate lunches.

If you want to experience music, food and a great event, you need to move your trip up one week, Festival Acadien is Oct 12-15 in Lafayette. Free festival with all the Cajun music you can handle. Festival Acadien

That's a great recommendation.

Oh and if you drive down Hwy 27 south of Sulphur there is the Creole Nature Trail and a little local exhibit. Nice trails going through the marsh

No problem man. All the places I listed are around Lake Chas since it sounds like that's where you're staying?

You're inviting racism here. Sneaky sneaky.

All I can offer the OP, drive down 90 all the way to NOLA. Stop along the way.

Riverside meats in Plaquemine has started making top 5 boudin in the state.

There's plenty of good places to eat in Lake Charles. You can also drive I10 towards Lafayette- great food there and along the expressway

Plan a trip with these folks at the beginning of your trip and they'll let you know where to go from there.

I grew up in Lake Charles, and now live in St. Landry Parish and work in Evangeline Parish. Depending on how far you are willing to go, I can make plenty of suggestions from Lake Charles to Henderson to Alexandria.

If you want to get out in a swamp, Atchafalaya Swamp Tours in Breaux Bridge is the closest you'll get on this side of the state, but it's the Atchafalaya, so it's awesome. DI's, Pont Breaux's, and Fezzo's for some good food. Billy's Boudin in Opelousas or Krotz Springs is a must. I live way too close to both. Chicot Park, and the Arboretum, are both fantastic places to visit.

I can go on and on...
