Thanks everybody for the tips. I'll have some more questions when I have more time to post.

Oh and if you drive down Hwy 27 south of Sulphur there is the Creole Nature Trail and a little local exhibit. Nice trails going through the marsh

agreed...I hunt down that way and can vouch that there is one hell of a lot of wildlife in that area.

I may be able to help you out with a swamp ride. I grew up here in Louisiana, lived in Germany for 16 years. I was in the military there, then got out and stayed. Married a German girl, 2 of my kids were born there. Moved back here 2010. I could work out an afternoon go-devil tour during that week of Maurepas WMA. Free-of-charge, it's illegal to offer paid tours of the WMA. Besides, I never really need an excuse to get out in the boat/swamp. Drop me an email address and I'll send you my contact info.

Man, that sounds great, only I would insist on taking you to dinner, pay for gas and beer, or something like that for the favor. Where did you live in Germany? I'm about 40 miles SW of Munich - going to Oktoberfest tomorrow afternoon.

You can reach me at razorsteven@Safe-mail.net. Please send me a message there, as I don't use that address very often, and I don't want to put my normal address out there.

Thanks to everybody for giving me tips. I will be close to Poverty Point and see that for sure. We just want to absorb some cajun culture, the best part of the U.S. for me. I love Arkansas, but it's just not the same.

I'll drop you a line soon. I was stationed in Heidelberg and Friedberg (where Elvis was stationed). Lived mostly around Heidelberg. Did Oktoberfest a couple of times, mountain-biked all over the Alps, traveled Europe extensively. I miss it and at times wish to move back, but who knows what door will open next...

Prost!

I ran across this place on facebook and it seems kinda cool. Takes you around town trying some food and seeing different stores maybe. Seems it would be a a fun thing for you.

Cajun Food Tours

Also when you get back home and you start craving some Louisiana foods I can probably ship them to you. Just picked up this Louisiana themed gift basket company that I also sell the foods separate as well. More than whats on the site. I stock some stuff but can get it all just about just depends on how many i have to buy and if I can sell the rest. I have shipped into Canada so I dont see why I couldn't get it out to you. Not sure about fresh foods...I don't know if dry ice would last long enough and I have not shipped or sold that yet.

That goes for the rest of you heathens as well
