Looking for a smaller carry 9mm. Thoughts on the Canik TP9 SC or the Kimber micro9?

I want something small but not too small. 9mm.
Likely won't be EDC but will be carried sometimes.

I like the micro 9. Fits in my pocket and really isn’t noticeable. Keys or cell phone imprint. Shoots fairly accurately for a smaller barrel

I have a Kimber Compact Carry Crimson Trace in .45ACP, perfect for inside waistband CC. Not many rounds capacity, but very accurate in close quarters

My kahr CM9 works well. Front packet carry in my jeans with a DeSantis pocket holster.

Awesome trigger.

Little long on the pull for you to get used to. Bought it off a guy who thought it would jam because of loading it can stovepipe if you cycle by hand on the slide.

The book says lock back and use slide release to load the chamber not by hand release.

Works everytime and has shot all ammo.

I have a Kimber Micro 9 that has an active role in my cc rotation, along w/ a Kahr CM9. When I need really small, I carry a Kahr CW380 in my front pocket. The Micro 9 has been accurate nd reliable. I've had good luck w/ my M9, but I've read on the 'net of those who've not been so lucky. I started carrying it w/ a Side Guard IWB holster, but now I mainly use a Ronin Leather SW Special. The holster/gun are so comfortable, I literally forget I'm carrying it.

I also have an OWB holster for the Kahr, but mainly pocket carry during the summer time. Both have been good guns for me, but they have different manual of arms (Mi9 is SAO while the Kahr is DAO) and different triggers (M9 7# and short while the CM9 is 5#, smooth and longer). I have a Canik TP9SF, but it's for "truck carry", not cc. The Canik is probably my most accurate handgun.

FIL has the Kimber. The trigger is pretty bad, meaning heavy. I think it was like 7 lbs.

I worked on it and got it down to around 4. That’s all I know about either of those.

I have a Sig P 365xl that I love.
Another is the new S&W CSX. It’s an all metal sub-compact with a high capacity.

I've been reading a lot of good about Canik and for an inexpensive firearm lineup they seem to be a good quality and shoot well.

I think that both are good options. As others said, the 365 is good as well.

I have the larger Canik but will be picking up a SC this week. I can then give you a better response because I also have the Micro 9.

At $400 is so cheap I should just get one anyway.
The Kimber is a little more but not a high as most of their line.

Went through this exercise awhile back and ended up going with the Springfield Hellcat.

The 365, Max9, Hellcat, etc. all offer pretty close to the same specs in the same footprint. I decided to go with the Hellcat because I felt it fit my hand better and had the best trigger. Also, I saw some torture/reliability test videos with it going >10k rounds.

If you want something that is truly a pocket gun then you have to either accept single stack (reduced capacity 9mm) or jump down to 380 acp. Imo, all of the double stack micro 9's, while very small, still are not really pocket guns. They can be setup for little to no print when carrying appendix.

I purchased a Canick last year. 9mm, I can’t remember which one, but it’s a sub compact. I have quite a few pistols, and this one is the sweetest shooting Of all of them. Super impressed for a 350 dollar piece.

I have had several small 9m including Glock 43,43X and 48 along with the Sig 365. I now carry a Springfield hellcat with Riton type RMR. I prefer it over the others. Main reason is I shoot it better and the mag capacity for its size. Not saying its the best just the best for me.

Best thing to do is go to a range and rent the guns you are interested. Never buy a gun based on the price.

Canik TP9 SC:
Have one and it is my preferred concealed carry gun over my Glock 43X. The issue when looking for handguns is usually finding a holster that also allows you to carry a weapon light and/or red dot sight. Tier 1 holster make them for the Canik TP9 SC.

Canik aregood quality guns at a better price than Glocks and I’m a Glock guy for over 20 years. I also have a Canik TP9 SF Elite, which I shoot better than my Glock 19 and 45.

Hope that helps.
