I honestly don't want to touch that rifle right now just because of how accurate it is i know anything within 300 is dead as a door nail.... but there are time that I would like a little more clarity like with what my Nikon has.

I do not have experience with the newer meoptas but I do have a couple of Zeiss conquest.
My opinion only is a Leupold vx5 hd 3-15x44
Glass is extremely good with a turret that has very good, positive clicks. The eye relief is very good the the most important part is the light gathering is extremely good.

Certainly the wrong time for it with rifle season right around the corner. The good news is basically any store will mount and bore sight it for you, so it shouldn't take much to get it back right. The last scope I had mounted and bore sighted only took me 7 shots to get perfect.

Mounting and bore sighting I am not worried about. I do all of that myself. I did a mount and sight job for my uncle just last week. I will probably see if there are any black Friday deals that come out if not ill just use what I have until I find what I really want. Plus I already have a 300win mag that drives tacks as well.... Ill just use that more this year.

Look on ebay and gunbroker. Got some deals on leupolds in past from these two sites. VX3i 4.5-14x44 for $365.
I contacted the seller each time for the serial #s, ran them thru Leupolds website to confirm authenticity.

Yea you got time and the options are really going to be overwhelming with such a wide budget.
In my opinion the differences between a $400 scope and a $1000 scope are generally imperceptible on a hunting rifle so I've always stuck towards the low end of that. I have friends with Swarovski and nightforce scopes and I really can't see the difference between them and a leupold vx3. Maybe people have better eyes than me.

mostly agree with you, there is a huge difference between a $150 scope and a $500 scope, but not so much between a $500 and $1000 ...sans the side focus, ballistic turrets, illuminated reticle, etc, which means very little for the majority of hunting situations

That's where I'm at. I've found with most things, fishing reels, scopes, etc there's a sweet spot where more dollars buys you diminishing returns. For my eyeballs, that's $300-$500 for scopes.

If you aren't in a hurry I would maybe wait a year. I spent a fair amount of time last week looking at scopes for a new gun and everything I really wanted was sold out of. I ended up going with a cheap decent quality scope to get through this winter and will find what I want next year.

I’ve got a VX5HD 3-15x44 that I love. I think retail for over 1000 but I got one on Black Friday last year for around 800.

I bought a Meopta Optika6 last December and absolutely love it. I have a Leupold VX6 HD and the Meopta is just as clear and has better low light visibility for half the price. Amazing scope for $650. I bought mine from CameraLandNY.com and would highly recommend them.

this would be more than enough for you're intended purpose and is an excellent scope for it's pricepoint...the actual performance of riflescopes intended to be used for hunting in the $500-$800 range will be pretty close, even up to $1k the glass will be basically in the same category, its the features and add ons that make up the difference @ that point..either way this is a pretty good scope for the money.. If you watch for some good sales, the Leupy VX5 are GREAT scopes but are at the top of the price range for this category..
