Those are very good. They are really accurate also. I have a Browning Stalker A-Bolt. There isnt a whole lot different. Great rifles

Tikka T3 you're welcome, don't need to ask OB any longer.

I bought the X-bolt stainless stalker carbon fiber with the fluted barrel a few months ago. It's the best shooting long gun that I've ever owned. It's very well balanced and recoil pad absorbs almost all of the energy generated by the gun leaving almost no kick. I paired it with the Meopta Meopro after some here suggested it. It's an awesome combination. Can't wait to bring it in the woods this fall

While the Browning is an excellent rifle, Tikka is the answer to the question. And the ONLY answer.

Enjoy your new found accuracy.

The amount of love and devotion exhibited by Tikka owners at the OB is unparalleled.

There are a lot of great rifles out there. I'm just a little bias.

This feels like deja vu all over again...

X-bolts are great guns.

Here are my thought on the Tikka that I posted in another thread ( LINK)

quote:

In its price range, it's a fine option (some on here really swear by them), but I don't find it to be head and shoulders above other similarly priced bolt action rifles. It will be more accurate than you are capable of being and is a great entry-level bolt action that can take a beating.

However, if you're looking for an heirloom quality gun, a really beautifully crafted gun, or a gun with top of the line fit and finish, you're barking up the wrong tree. If you're looking for something to kill deer and not have to worry too much about bumping it or scratching it, then you've found a great option.

And then just some more thoughts on rifles in general:
quote:

I think the biggest mistake people make when buying a rifle is putting more money in the rifle than they should and leaving not enough for a decent scope. All rifles over $500 are going to be more inherently accurate than 99% of shooters are capable of.

However, a shitty scope negates that in low-light conditions or other less than perfect situations. I would feel much more confident shooting a T3 with Swarovski glass than shooting a top of the line Sako with a Nikon Buckmaster. When in doubt, spend more money on the glass.

I'm a big fan of the x-bolt, but I like "pretty" rifles so I would go blued and walnut. And 30-06 is a classic round. Can't go wrong there.

I would go Tikka, CZ, or Savage before I would go Browning. I think the price is a lot to pay for a gun built in Japan. My experience with the A Bolt has been total crap as well. I will never own one for myself.

I have had the 270 xbolt composite stalker for a few years and love it. Actually I like it so much that I picked up the same gun but 300 wsm a few weeks ago. Durable finish, great trigger and light weight.

This.

I have it in .270 WSM, and love it. When I was looking for a new rifle, my boss told me that he has multiple Tikka T3's chambered in multiple calibers.

A damn good rifle at an affordable price. I have always been taught to save money on a rifle so you can spend more money the glass, you can't shoot what you can't see, and a top notch scope makes a huge difference.
