Survey

Here is our chance to let the state know how we feel on the proposed creel changes. It took a little over 5 minutes for me.

Am I wrong in assuming the pogey boats do far more damage than all other things combined?

I don't know enough to answer that, but at the end of the survey there is space for comments. That would be nice to have them answer.

Don't know, but I sure wrote "Pogey boats all contain cocaine and methamphetamines, please inspect them all to ensure safety of recreational boaters" in my last box.

I’d be ok with a 14”-19” slot.

I guess they'd didn't get enough responses on the randomly selected emails earlier this year.

I said 10 fish between 14”-24” with one over 24.

What's the history of the state going down on a creel limit and then coming back up? Will it ever be 25 again if it goes down?

To be honest, I don't care if it ever does. Not trying to speak for everyone here, that is just my opinion. Everyone needs to vouch for what they think is best and hopefully, we can meet somewhere in the middle. I usually play "catch and release" with trout so that is why I have that stance. Selfishly, I would like to not have to travel all the way to Texas to catch big trout.

I'm hoping they make the most drastic changes at least for a while.

What did y'all think about limits by zone?

I’m not opposed to it. I think it’s logical to assume there’s a difference in the fishery in Breton Sound and Cameron/Calcasieu.

I'm more on the 15 fish with a 14" min and no limit on the over length, we rarely catch those anyway.

That would make it not really worth traveling to Louisiana to get my fishing fix. Never had problems getting tons of Specks out of Venice inshore. Maybe other areas are having problems but I hope they don't change it. But like everything lately in govt it will trend towards more limiting factors in our lives. And it won't ever go up again. Govt doesn't let their foot off your neck once it gets on there. The only thing they know is more pressure. Florida has pretty much ruined their fishing tourism so there's your flagship.

Same for me. I also mentioned reducing the creel limit on menhaden fisheries. To go along with reducing the commercial and recreational shrimping season within 3NM of the beach.
