Just imagine if today's anti-rights people knew that in 1972 you could buy a semi-auto .30-06 for less than $150!

Remington 1100 for $144 And back then they were damn good.

I remember when you could still get a single shot shotgun for $70-80 at Wally World.

Man, what a sweet gun. If I had a penny for every round I put through my Grandpa's Nylon 66 as a kid, I could probably buy one now.

Cleaned out a remote gold miners cabin in an extremely rural area of alaska a few months back and ran across several old magazines and ads like this. I decided to leave them in their for future generations to see. Funny thing is it seemed like most of the ads were hunting/fishing related or women in undergarments. Guess not much has changed in the last 60 years.

I actually have my grandfather's Rem 742 auto '06. He probly paid $140 for it way back when.

Got a Remington 870 Wingmaster for Christmas that year, from Gibsons in the Chuck. Had to go halves on it as Dad wouldn't go the whole thing!

Yes, still have it. It still kills birds.

Edit: And I have a Nylon 66 from 1961 that my dad won in the Cameron Deep Sea Fishing rodeo. Has a 4 power Weaver scope. Thing is cool.

I had the Ithaca 20 gauge. Kicked the crap out of me when I was a kid. Eject out of the bottom was definitely different.

That is cool. My dad told me that when they had the grand opening of the Howard Brothers at the corner of Airline and Plank (had to be in the early '60's) in the Sporting Goods section there was a wooden barrel stuffed with Army surplus M1 Garands and had a sign on the barrel "Your choice -$49 each"! He said some of them were used and some still had cosmoline on them! He looked but wasn't interested in buying one because he explained Army surplus guns were pretty common back then.

Next time email me. I saw 5 or 6 in person at the walmart in plaquemine. I could have got you one.

Google ar15 walmart discount thread.

They have a few more listed right now.

still have the 1100 I was forced to buy by my dad, went in with him to buy a tricked out sweet 16 with my summer job savings, he sees that 1100 is $50 bucks less and talked me out of my dream shotgun, pisses me off every time I see that 1100, tough lesson on “some things are just worth the money...”

I have that sterling .25 in the lower right of the photo ad. Solid little pistol. I then bought a .22.
