Landowners, do you let neighbors ride or hunt on your land?

Buying a house on a little over 20 acres in Folsom, and I specifically chose it for its seclusion and privacy - only one neighbor with a much smaller property. Otherwise woods all around. The land is almost all wooded but with some wide hunting/ATV trails throughout.
Eventually we're going to clear more than half the land and my son is going to build a small private motocross track for himself and his young kids, as well as my brother and his son who both ride MX. Noise shouldn't be a big issue I'm hoping, because I can leave a pretty good tree buffer around 100 ft. wide or so around the cleared area. I don't ride anymore due to my back and neck problems, so I'll mainly just play around in the woods looking for snakes and stuff. Though my wife and son will ride 4 wheelers on the trails.
The real estate agent tells me that the neighbors won't mind bikes on the land because they ride 4 wheelers and hunt on the land too. That didn't please me like she thought it would. Obviously I'm spending hundreds of thousands for my own family's enjoyment and privacy - not for the neighbors to use. On the other hand, they've used that land for years like it was public land, and a house was only built on it recently. I don't want to be a dick and tell them they can't ever ride on it, but I also don't want a liability issue. Obviously anyone on a 4 wheeler or dirtbike is going to get hurt riding eventually and I don't want to get sued by people who shouldn't be there anyway. Definitely don't want them shooting guns on my property because I don't want one of my grandkids back there on a 4 wheeler getting hit by a stray bullet. Also don't want my family members flying up a trail at 50 mph on a dirt bike and running head first into a neighbor on a 4 wheeler coming around a blind curve in the opposite direction.
How would you handle this? Shouldn't be as much of an issue once the land is cleared because it won't look like public land at that point. I don't want a liability issue, but I also don't want a Hatfield-McCoy issue developing with my new neighbors. Don't want them complaining anytime we ride or shoot guns on our property just out of spite. And I honestly don't know if they enforce noise ordinances out in the country anyway.

I just bought 80 acres that was state owned public land (not LA) for 70 years. I had some issues the first few months but gates, signs, and talks put an end to it very quickly
Now if I could just get OnX to update their shite

Nope no one in my land unless they are a guest while I am present. Luckily my land isn’t easy to trespass due to terrain.

this is bullshite. you can't keep the noise out with fricking noisy arse dirt bikes or 4 wheelers. they're noisy by nature and I can't think of a single asshat who rides MX that doesn't purposelly make the bikes louder with mods or just cause they are asshats who like loud shite.

if they're riding 4wheelers on your land and aren't compensating you, then you're not liable if they get hurt.

I'd talk to them and explain where you're coming from. Maybe have them shoot you a text message before they ride on it to be sure it's ok if you don't want them kicked completely off.

My views have changed on this. I used to not let anyone on my land, but where my property is there is very little public land available. I also see less and less interest in hunting where my land is and that scares me, because I am afraid the next generation is going to be more likely to fight hunting rights unless we get them involved in it. I am still picky. I set expectations on what I will and won't accept. I still don't allow dogs on the land until very late in the season.
Before you clear the land make sure this is what you want. What land I have cleared I have regretted clearing. Congratulations on the land purchase.

I absolutely do not allow anyone outside of my immediate family (stepsons and grandchildren) to use my property.Louisiana passed a law-Louisiana Recreational Use Immunity Act which relieves landowners of liability if they allow others to use their land and are injured.But I suppose they could file a lawsuit,they will lose but I would have to hire a lawyer,expense and hassle I wouldn’t want to deal with.
All that is besides the point,why buy land,spend bunch of money and time developing your land to have bunch of outsiders ruin the enjoyment of your land and possibly cause an accident that injures someone in your family.If you are developing a motocross track I can about guarantee you will be overrun in short order.
People are not going to respect your land,A few years ago I allowed a longtime acquaintance of the family to come pick blackberries.I showed him where there was a berry patch,few days later I rode by the spot and found 6 beer cans,he is a frikken retired forester and littering my land!!!
There is possibly going to be some hard feelings from people that previously used the land but you are going to have to stand firm.

This is really why I’m thinking of some type of compromise. There isn’t a way to completely block off access to my land without putting a fence around the whole thing, which is far too costly, and their land isn’t big enough for them to ride on. We aren’t the type who make bikes louder, and it would mostly be small bikes, except for a 4 stroke 450 or 250 a couple times a month. We’d do what we could to keep noise to the minimum possible. Better to be on good terms with the neighbor for this reason rather than just “frick you, keep off”. I’m guessing we’ll occasionally let them ride with permission on specific occasions if they ask, but definitely no hunting or shooting. Depending on cost, I’ll probably try to do some hogwire fencing or whatever is cheapest between my land and theirs, and just put “no hunting or trespassing” signs everywhere and see how it shakes out.
