i dont even know why you are over thinking this. post the property and gate/block off entrance. the place is yours

Yeah, I built on 40 acres that has a deer stand the locals built and they used to hunt the land all the time. The electrician for my house was one of them and he told me "the local boys won't like it much of they can't hunt here anymore". Screw that, I posted the property and put up no trespassing signs everywhere. I've never seen any sign of people on my property.

I do not let people on my property or family’s land that I manage unless they are guest.
1970’s my grandfather never had issues.
Late 1980’s he got sued once when someone got hurt on his property in a hunting accident.
After that we no longer allow people on our property.

We’d do what we could to keep noise to the minimum possible. Better to be on good terms with the neighbor for this reason rather than just “frick you, keep off”. I’m guessing we’ll occasionally let them ride with permission on specific occasions if they ask, but definitely no hunting or shooting. Depending on cost, I’ll probably try to do some hogwire fencing or whatever is cheapest between my land and theirs, and just put “no hunting or trespassing” signs everywhere and see how it shakes out.

Sorry if I sounded dickish. It’s your property and you have every right to use it as you see fit.

But I commend you for being cognizant of the noise the bikes make. If the neighbors slip over while you’re not there and poach a squirrel or two, no big deal. Shooting a .370 while your kids are riding is a whole separate issue. As is the liability.

I run anyone off of my place unless they ask to be there. If they ask, I’m pretty accommodating. Unless they are gonna make a bunch of noise. Lol.

Thanks for posting that. I had never heard of this statute, and learning this gives me great peace of mind. Thanks!

Nobody comes on our land without an invitation. We pay big property taxes and bought land around us to keep a condo development out. I'm not just letting folks use it anyway. A second home can be a whopper of an expense, and we've had three generations put a lot of hard work and manual labor into the place as well as some serious coin. A fourth generation is just starting to make their mark.

Few times a year my one pee-hole neighbor or his kids or contractors think they can use our driveway as their service drive way. They get five minute to move or the hook is coming.

That said I love having friends come over and we have some great neighbors we are more than willing to share with. Long timers that understand the give and take and don't keep score are good people you want to extend every courtesy to. Some of our neighbors are 35-year neighbors and we are like family. My good friend from college married my next door neighbor after they met at a party in 2010. These places have a lot of meaning and you definitely want to cultivate some neighbors as friends.

If they'll drink cheap beer or good whiskey with you and like medium rare red meat, it's worth getting to know them a bit. If you get a good few months with your new neighbors, have a crawfish or shrimp boil, invite them to bring some food or booze. What a great time.

Used to, but the young ones started ripping my shite up. Flat out told all to keep the F off. Still have old folks come which is no problem.

We will allow close friends occasionally to fish and turkey hunt.. My wife , kids, and myself hunt and fish on the land surrounding our house. It’s only 90 acres but it’s ours and we take care of it. It was an inheritance that was only used for deer hunting a few times a year legally. I’ve had a few people come on it and say they had permission. A quick discussion and some fencing have taken care of that.
