Surgery started at 0815. Surgery stems from a visit to the ER yesterday afternoon. EJW has been my friend when it was probably easier to not be. He and his family have been through so much but the battle isn't over. I want to say thanks and please continue showing your support for a good fellow.
I will update as Mrs. Wales updates me. Josey has given me full permission to relay updates to his friends of the OB.

Is the surgery to take care of loose ends from the prior surgery or something new?

Some work they did the first surgery didn't end up like it was supposed to. Josey started feeling bad and running a fever yesterday so after calling his doctor he was told to go to the ER. Once he made it to the ER the doctor sent someone from his "team" because the primary doctor was in surgery with another patient. The doctor from the "team" admitted Josey last night and scheduled a surgery for this morning. The purpose for this surgery today is to either redo what has already been done or try a different approach if the doctors deem that necessary. The doctor told them that decision would be a "in surgery" call that the team would have to make.

Had to go to ER because of suture problems..... Said some came loose. Will b a surgical repair job..... But given the depth of the previous surgery - its not something they could fix n the ER.

When y'all decide on a GT if its on a weekend this summer I'm in.

EJW has been out if surgery about an hour now. It was successful in the aspect that they didn't open the neck and were able to suture back the tongue, but did a small graft patch. They didn't have to put the breathing tube back in, and he's in recovery. Hopefully he can update more himself later this evening.
