Well, he finds the pig and it takes off running...all he has is his pocket knife so he chases it down stabbing it as they run. The pig turns around and charges him a couple of times and my kid pushes the pig to the side and stabs him again and again. The pig hauls arse again and my son continues to pursue and keeps stabbing until the pig goes down. When we gutted him we could clearly count 27 stab wounds on the inside of the rib cage.

bit him in the leg and severed his femoral artery

Ignoring the part where he approached a wounded wild animal, that is some horrible luck right there

When I was around 11-2 my uncle shot an 8 point through the neck. After we loaded him in the truck, my cousin and I were riding in the bed of the truck with it. After a minute or two on the black top the buck starts trying to stand up and get out of the truck. My cousin and start hollering and banging on the back window, damn near trying to crawl around the cab and in through the passenger window. That buck took a .270 through the neck, 2 shots to the head from a .22 pistol 30 minutes later in my grandparents yard, and finally had to have his throat cut to finally kill him. Those damn things are tough

I've posted it on here before but... Dec 1991, MS Muzzleloader season. Mildly hungover, 2 does that came by stand often came but both were looking over their shoulder at something - I saw a buck about 20 yards behind them so... I let does go by he follows like a puppy. turns broadside about 30 yards away. BOOM, big cloud of smoke and when it clears he is crumpled. Getting down from stand I spilled my remaining powder, So I left my rifle and gear back at bottom of stand, and went to check him out... well he looked dead so, I grabbed him by the antlers and he threw his head back and stood up and dang near broke my wrist. He started kicking at me so I grabbed him with both hands and honestly I thought about letting go but was scared he might not run. So for about hour we traverse all over the place like that(those rascals can KICK). Went through thickets cutover and thank god some open stuff. He started to get real tired at one point so I wedged him down and held with one hand. Took off my belt and put it around his neck and walked him much like a steer wrestler about 350 yards back to the last road we had crossed. a truck load of people drove up on me... one gets out "why you got a leash on dat deer>> OH shite.... At that point he was pretty docile and resigned to his fate which ended a few seconds later. One lung was obliterated and bullet was lodged in a rib next to spine.. How that animal fought like that still amazes me

I can attest to, at least the majority, of this story being true

This happened to me too. rode the deer for 4 hours in the snow. had my climber on him like a saddle. walked him out with my socks tied together like a leash 700 yards through a ditch. he lives in my backyard now.

I only hunt hogs from a stand, high up where they can't get to me. And I always get a head shot in once they are down.

I ain't messing around with some damn wild hog.

Dang guys, worst I’ve done is popped some doves heads off.

If I can’t see the wound and there’s not a ton of blood, I definitely watch the animal for a second and make sure I poke an eye with a loaded or ready weapon.

Squirrel hunting about 20 years ago, I had about six squirrels in my old school vest in the back pouch. One of them bastards wasn't dead. He tore out of there and scratched my neck up a ripped the pouch lining to shite. He then had the audacity to hit the ground, rare-up and bark at me before hauling arse in the swamp! That's why I hang them with leather strips from their neck on the outside of my backpack now. true story people.......!!

Man, there are some "stories" in this thread.

Spent my youth marking hogs. Never knew so many people were that afraid of them.

Instead of just shooting him again I poked him with a stick.

Reminds me the time I trapped a sow and two piglets. Decided to poke her with a stick first. She bit the end and ripped that shite out my hand in the blink of an eye. I learned that day how fast and STRONG those frickers are. Needless to say, she got shot first... and repeatedly before I the cage was opened.
