An Italian hunter died last week after he was attacked by a wild boar he had just shot that bit him in the leg and severed his femoral artery, according to reports. Giulio Burattini, 36, was hunting with his father in the Tuscan woods on Jan. 19, the Daily Star reported, citing Italian media. Burattini shot the animal and it fell. He approached the injured boar and it quickly got up and charged at him, the report said. The father, who was treated for shock at the scene, reportedly let out a "desperate cry for help."

Brutta strada da percorrere.

I'm in the habit of putting an extra dome shot on them when I walk up.

Couple years ago I shot a boar and when I found him he was still alive .Instead of just shooting him again I poked him with a stick. He jumped up and chased me aways.I hadn’t run that fast in many years. He collapsed after awhile,so I shot him again.
Then I was like “What the hell was I thinking”

I had a neighbor once, older guy shot a 10 pt and when he found it the deer jumped up and ran an antler through his thigh. He said the deer ran 20 or so feet with him hanging upside down before the deer collapsed. He extricated himself from the antler and shot the deer again. He wasn’t a little guy,at least 6 ft and 220 lb or so.

2 years ago I took a pretty long shot at a boar right at dark on the edge of a thick-arse cutover; we found a good bit of blood so we thought it was a good shot. Turns out I had shot low and broke both front legs(you can see the way they're hanging in the pic). My 15 year old says he'll crawl in there to find him but leaves his gun behind because how thick it is.

Well, he finds the pig and it takes off running...all he has is his pocket knife so he chases it down stabbing it as they run. The pig turns around and charges him a couple of times and my kid pushes the pig to the side and stabs him again and again. The pig hauls arse again and my son continues to pursue and keeps stabbing until the pig goes down. When we gutted him we could clearly count 27 stab wounds on the inside of the rib cage.

It was a wild night for sure. You can see the little pocket knife in the pic as well.

I don’t walk up to a “dead deer” until it’s been lying there for several minutes, let alone a hog.

Happened to me with a buck 3 years ago. He was laying there looking dead. Me and my friend walked up on him and when we were 5 feet away he got up and took off. Luckily he was facing the other way. We backed out at that point. He made it another 30 yds or so. Liver shot. Could have went bad.

I've posted it on here before but... Dec 1991, MS Muzzleloader season. Mildly hungover, 2 does that came by stand often came but both were looking over their shoulder at something - I saw a buck about 20 yards behind them so... I let does go by he follows like a puppy. turns broadside about 30 yards away. BOOM, big cloud of smoke and when it clears he is crumpled. Getting down from stand I spilled my remaining powder, So I left my rifle and gear back at bottom of stand, and went to check him out... well he looked dead so, I grabbed him by the antlers and he threw his head back and stood up and dang near broke my wrist. He started kicking at me so I grabbed him with both hands and honestly I thought about letting go but was scared he might not run. So for about hour we traverse all over the place like that(those rascals can KICK). Went through thickets cutover and thank god some open stuff. He started to get real tired at one point so I wedged him down and held with one hand. Took off my belt and put it around his neck and walked him much like a steer wrestler about 350 yards back to the last road we had crossed. a truck load of people drove up on me... one gets out "why you got a leash on dat deer>> OH shite.... At that point he was pretty docile and resigned to his fate which ended a few seconds later. One lung was obliterated and bullet was lodged in a rib next to spine.. How that animal fought like that still amazes me.

This is why you always double tap if it’s injured. From a distance

Never approach a wounded wild animal
