Just made it to Lincoln Parish from Lafayette. Had some Thanksgiving cleanup to do before I left the house.
51° slight north wind
Pipeline with a .270
Supposedly the rut is in full swing here and tomorrow is one of the best days to hunt if the year according to solar lunar tables with the major feeding time between 10:30 and 1:30pm. Gonna be a long sit tomorrow.

Had a spike come out and feed for 20 minutes about 10 minutes after getting in the stand. His fur was a rough in one side of his shoulder and ribs. Looked like he’d been roughed up by something.

What round do you shoot? We've only taken one with the 6.5cm I have, used some tipoed copper ammo I found on sale. I think it fragged, the shot location shouldn't have made a gut mess but did. Could have been angle. It was super close, 20 yds. It didn't run fast though, decent sized holes. I have a few options in the safe, will eventually figure out what is best.

When I shot earlier, it was the first time using my suppressor without muffs. That was nice!

Not at all. After tomorrow morning, the rifle gets picked up for a while. May take it back out during the rut. It’ll be all bow.

37 this morning, but heated socks did their job
Tethrd Predator XL and Phantom saddle
Mathews V3X with 200 grain Tuffhead Evo 2.0

Set up in a mixed pine/hardwood spot with plenty of thick brush overlooking a watering hole I scouted. Ended up seeing 4 bucks and a couple of does. Put the arrow through a 7-point for the Black Friday special at 10:30 this morning!

The bonus was getting to watch some ducks escape the duck hunters by landing in the watering hole and sticking around.
