I had a tall skinny 5 point come out to feed from 8-845. REB Jr just killed a big 7 point a few hundred yards from me on the pipeline. He said it fell down in a big creek bottom and he needs help dragging it out.

Gonna go help him in a bit.

That’s 2 for him this week. Killed a nice 6 a couple days ago.

Hate that for you, but sounds like you got into some good action.

Back in Maury county, yanahli WMA, in a tree with the muzzleloader. Need this rut to pull a dumb one right in front of me...

Weather is great, but the sun on the remaining leaves sucks.

Yeah we still had a good trip.

My buddy killed a beautiful 160” class 12. I had my opportunities, but just couldn’t get shots.

Frustrating, but I’ve got a 170 lb doe in the ice chest.

Welp.... Pretty much gave up on the hunt as soon as I got in my stand. Realized there were no holes to shoot through the limbs.

Until about 9:00 a tall 6 point crossed my road pretty quickly. Then a 8 came and stood in the only 4" hole I had to shoot through. Bad for him. Bad for me.

3 hours later, along with 2 270wsm bullets, 3 .380 bullets, 2.8 miles walked through the thickest briars you can find in Louisiana...he lay dead at my feet. Keep in mind, my view through the brush made him look about 50% larger than he actually was

Going to nap now

Didn’t see shite. Mainly ran up to fill the feeder and bring some stuff to the ground blind for next weekend. Trying to get my son his first deer next weekend.

My 14 year old is back at it this evening. He’s hunting a lane along the west fork of the amite river which runs through our place. So far he’s seen a half dozen turkeys. He’s looking for a big 8 that’s been showing up pretty regularly.

Got me a cow horn just before 1! Not being shut out, having meat on ice feels good. Not that I'm usually picky, hunting public land in the woods you take what you can get.
