Congrats on a nice buck!

Only a half dozen gobblers here. The whole family is hunting this evening. Looking forward to that .

She ended up coming through at 7:45. She was not alone.

Back in the saddle for the evening after an eventful morning. Lots of deer movement, but nothing worth shooting.

It’s hot.

SW MS
Looking down a road i could shoot, go pick up bullet, shoot it again, and still not reach the end of it.
Have a deer on ice from earlier in the week I still haven’t cut up.
Don’t plan on shooting anything.
Mainly here to see a kid shoot one somewhere.

But I’ll probably shoot a doe if I see one.

Good luck gents. My wife started working the polls (not poles) last year, and until then I never realized election day was peak deer season

Now I'm taking care of sick kids all damn day on my day off

Got a doe on ice. Only heard two shots other than mine all day. I rechecked the season dates at one point.

I stopped myself from taking a 200 yard kneeling shot at a doe that I probably had dead to rights. I feel so grown up right now.

Do yall remember what Opening Morning used to sound like in the 80s and 90s? Especially when they opened the Doe season and dropped the "doe tags" nonsense?

It was a war.

Nowadays I think that for whatever combination of reasons, Opening Day isn't that big of a deal. Lots of people save their powder for the rut I guess??
it's got to be a generational thing. Just think people are much more selectivities.

On a side note, I see more deer in a hunt now than I did an entire season hunting Mansfield in the '90s

Story?

Chasing a doe. He picked the wrong spot to stop and have a quick look around. No blood trailing needed, I could smell him from where he fell.
