what would you get? I'm not talking some trophy gun that costs thousands or a skeet/trap gun. Just your basic (Browning, Beretta, Benelli, or whoever) 12 gauge auto for actual waterfowl hunting. A nice gun, but something you won't mind the dog shaking water on when he gets back in the blind.

I wouldn’t mind having a vintage 1980’s Remington 870 Wingmaster or Remington 1100 in 20 gauge. I’m not a fan of the newer Remington products.

that's what I'm currently shooting. Been using it so long I don't know any better. Got the itch when my buddies were giving me shite about using a pump gun this weekend LOL.

I shoot a Benelli SBE2 and a Winchester SX3. I like the Winchester better. If Winchester charged $1600 for it as opposed to $900, every baw in Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama would want or have one. It doesn’t cost as much so it’s not viewed as highly or esteemed.

There are a bunch of pros in Arkansas that hunt 60 days per year that run SX3s and now SX4s.

You are gonna get a lot of Benelli and Beretta responses. Nothing wrong with those guns either.

See what fits you personally.

However, I highly recommend the Winchesters, unless you are worried about status. I’m worried about function and shot placement.

Another vote for A300 if you want to keep your cost down.

I tried pretty much all of the newer autos over the years. From Mossberg to Remington to Franchi to Beretta to Benelli. Finally went and found me a lightly used Miroku made Browning Auto-5 Mag 12. I freaking love that gun. My Benelli has not left the safe in 2 seasons.

After playing around with my son's Franchi, I'd probably get another one of those.

I've got a SBE3, I'd like to have a M2 in a 20 gauge.

I’ve shot a sbeII for the past 12 years. It’s been dunked over 20 times, shot thousands of shells, and hunted in salt water marshes. I’ve only had to change the recoil spring. Having said that, I really love the a400, especially for shooting bigger shells all day.

I have a SBE2 and I would get something made by benelli that was inertia driven for my next one.
