It's dumb as hell. You can hunt with a full blown legit 400 yard elk rifle but you can't hunt with a winchester 94. Its ridiculous

Yes, you can use a 45-70 with a Swarovski scope but a 30-30 lever action with iron sights is not primitive. Assinine

I've got a Marlin 30-30 side eject with peep thru scope mounts. I need to ditch the crappy scope and go iron sights only.

I've always dug a lever action and happened to be walking into a pawn shop when a guy was trying to trade it for another rifle plus $. Worked a deal with the guy and got it for $150.

good luck getting anything popular right now.

marlin sold to ruger but ruger didnt buy their property/factories, just the proprietary information. estimates have marlin products restarting production in late 2021.

COVID has negatively impacted manufacturing for Henry, Winchester, and Mossberg which are your main producers of quality lever actions.

Mossberg has shifted production to home defense model shotguns to meet demand from civil unrest etc, and people just buy whatever is on the shelf right now in general anyway.

I've been wanting a Mossberg 464 in 30-30 for a couple months now. You can buy them on gunbroker for 200% what they would retail at Academy.

marlin being completely out of production right now is compounding multiple issues with the availability of lever action rifles

The answer to your question is Sako Finnwolf .308. Be patient you can find one for $1500 or so.

So who on this board hasn't whacked ducks and pheasants with a 22? Hell, I took a lot of rabbits and a few pheasants with a bb gun and took a few pheasants on the fly with my Model 24 Remington 22 short semi auto. We didn't have any deer around back then, but anything else was fair game to that 22.

When I was a kid, a guy that worked for my Dad, was supervising me to do some work around our pond. When we came over the little rise by the dam, a greenhead took off, he drew his .38 special and shot it in the air. The duck landed in the water, right at the bank. Of course he acted like he planned it exactly that way

I have been looking for the Marlin Dark for two weeks.
I found this this morning and bought it.

$738 was too hard to pass up.

I’ll see if I can hit a duck or two.
