12 is the best combination of speed and manuverability. I got a 12' enotion MOJO fot $500 ish and am generally happy with it for marsh fishing. I've gone front Chef Pass to Lake Borgne rocks and the area marshes.

If you want to stand, get a better one with a flatter wider deck. Jackson, Hobby, etc.

Spelling errors, derp, Happy Mardi Gras, yall.

My advice is to shop for the best seat that comes with a kayak attached.

Did you ever get that figured out?

I made sure to tell Sonoma about your seat woes when he inquired with me about looking at kayaks

Hell no. The shape of the space is such that anything nice aftermarket will not fit, and I do not want to hack up my boat to do it.

I was able to make a foam seat with two additional pads that makes a slot in the center. That way, my tailbone is not supported in any way. That does work, but I am not thrilled with it. It's a shame too because the kayak performs so well in every other way. Mung's Commander is stored at my place, so if I am going on a solo trip and don't need to paddle far and it's not going to rain, I can take it. Much better seat situation.

The raised seats in the kayaks were game changers.

My brother has a 13' Gheenoe with a 6hp or something in that range that he is trying to get rid of for $1k

He ended up getting a 1648 aluminum and doesnt use the Gheenoe any.

Link? I could always use another Gheenoe.

Sorry for the stupid question but thats considered a "sit in" seat? Gotta be rough on the tailbone if thats all you got to sit on. A cushion or something would be a must have.

I've never tried sitting in it without a cushion. A cushion still results in terrible arse pain in a couple of hours. I have to sit on something with no material in the center.

Not everyone has the pain I do. Seems to be a small portion of the populus. If you want to buy mine, let me know.

If I wasn't so worried about rain, I think those Wilderness deals are fantastic. So stable and so much room, yet light enough to carry.
