True, but there seems to be a shite ton that hunt. Every dickhead with a gun on public land thinks they’re Jim Shockey

Hunting culture - why are some people total a-holes
I've started listening to the Hunt Quietly podcast, and while I don't agree with everything Matt says I believe that social media is a huge factor in hunting. That's heavy.

This happens on any board on any subject, honestly it’s less prevalent on the OB than other boards

Also hunting culture involves a lot of joking and teasing. Don’t take it personal

If it was a button buck during bucks only day some wardens will write it up as illegal deer. Doe day let it go.

Last night on the Area 4 Facebook post there was a guy standing over a shot yearling.

What’s wrong with shooting a fawn or a yearling besides it’s less meat?

Absolutely nothing wrong with shooting a yearling deer. Much rather have the meat from a yearling deer than a buck during rut that is chasing a doe. Same attitude happens with “fisherman” post a picture of 8 lb. bass you caught and are fixing to clean to eat. The comments will be golden I’m sure.

Unfortunately, those people are entirely missing what hunting is about. Everything is relative. The public land hunter who shoots 4 does a year and a spike is probably way better at hunting than the kid who hunts on his dad’s fenced in 2000 acres shooting 180 class deer. Same goes for ducks and everything else that money can buy

Nothing wrong with shooting a fawn as long as the hunter knows that it’s a doe when they shoot. It’s also nothing worth making a social media post about. It takes very little hunting skill to kill a fawn.

As was told, some people live their lives with a "If I can't have nice things, then you can't have nice things" attitude.

100% agree. I have alot of respect for successful public land hunters and am thankful that I don't have to do it.

We hunted Kisatchie around Minden when I was a kid and never killed squat.

Hell, I hunt a private lease and average less than one deer a season.

People that taking hunting too serious are the absolute worst. .. and I know several of them.

Youtube recommends all kind of LA hunting videos and the comments usually arent bad or hateful, even if they are editing it to rap with flat bills. Now go to a public land spot at 3:30 and get in line and you are bound to meet some assholes, young and old. However, that is not everybody.
