Gun is brand new Tikka T3 hunter 30-06.

Budget is roughly $800.

Please recommend several different types to help me narrow my search. Will test a combination and pick from there. Thanks.

For hunting? Target shooting?

How far you looking to shoot?

Hunting. Not sure on how far. Probably like 200 yds? Inexperienced rifle shooter and novice to big game hunting

I'd get this. All you need to kill anything out to 400 yds.

Leupold VX3i 4.5-14

What a breath of fresh air this is. So many people (IRL and on here) are such shameless bullshitters when it comes to discussing their hunting situations. "Aw Bruh, i need something that can get out to 500-600 yards baw." No, no you don't. You're not taking, much less making, any animal shots at that distance in LA, so take this 2-10x42 and have a nice day.

This will catch some flak, but if you're confident you will be making mostly sub-200yd shots, consider a fixed 6x scope. A fixed power scope will take in far more light than an adj mag scope, and 6x will be fine for most LA hunting

You're exactly right Carson.
I like a high powered scope to zoom in close on animals, but turn it down at dark. You can notice the difference in light gathering ability if you look through the scope as you're lowering the zoom.

I like a variable scope (~10x) solely because i dont take binos with me. I use it to examine racks, etc. But as far as shooting, 6x would be fine.

Get a 50mm scope, you can see better when it starts getting closer to dark, id get a nightforce, leupold, or Vortex in my opinion is an awesome scope, really clear and not outrageously priced
