There's different classes of species of antivenoms. Moccasin, rattlesnake, copperhead fall under pit viper. They give the venom to sheep to manufacture antibodies.

If he milks all of it's venom, can he put it on the floor and play with it?

Made it to page 2 without any "seen bigger rattlers in the quad". I'm disappointed.

Honestly I'm not sure the pistol I carry in the woods would be enough for that guy. I think I would run.

I wonder if he cooled the snake to make it more sluggish before he milked it

How often can a snake like that be milked? Anyone know?

Snakes can be milked once or twice per month, depending on age and size. Some massage the glands to get a full milking, others allow the snake to bite without the massage.

check out the guys finger.... he is missing one

That’s a calling card for hardcore snake guys.

When I was a kid and we used to go to the snake farm that was on Hwy. 90 in Slidell, there was an old guy who hung out there who used to free handle a big Mexican green rattlesnake. Wouldn’t grasp it by the head, he’d just hold it and let it crawl around freely. He was missing 3 or 4 fingers. Not hard to imagine why. Crazy old fukk.

I understand I'm the "weird" one, but reading this thread just reinforces my belief that people love being scared of snakes.

Back in HS (1982) a friend caught a big female cotton mouth and brought it to biology class. Our teacher would give you extra credit for bringing critters to school. My friend convinced the teacher to let him milk the snake in class. Yea, I know. Again it was 1982.

So my friend starts milking the snake, gets finished, puts the snake up and takes his seat. About 5 minutes later he pukes and I turn to see him pouring sweat. He says....I can’t feel my hand. Teacher sends him to the nurse, who figures out that he got some of the venom on his hand during the milking.

Bad news stuff. BTW, after about 15 minutes he was fine.

Most people have 1 or more irrational fears, for some it's spiders, some it's heights, for the OB it's snakes.

I don’t think you can mix venom from different snakes together. I may be wrong but different snakes venom effects humans in different ways

Saw a good one playing golf last Friday. Not as big as the video snake, but a good un. Turned the cart around to show my playing partner.
