Getting married in the spring and I’m curious if anyone has done a group buy from Benchmade or maybe even Spyderco for engraved pocket knives.

How much money am I reasonably looking at spending for a party of 9? Any info is appreciated.

TIA

Congrats

I bought some little shite no name knives off of etsy and it ran me close to $60 a person. They're actually decent knives, but I can't recall the name. Definitely no benchmade though. Easy grand.

I mean, that's my guess. You'd be buying straight from them and having them laser mark it. Probably a few bucks extra for that. Don't know of any package deals, they're proud of them things.

We have RTIC cups laser engraved for a business at $6 per cup, if that helps get an idea

Worth it. Your groomsmen will appreciate it over a random cheap knife.

Everything I'm finding is running around $100 a pop with shipping and whatnot. May be less all shipped at once.

I'm sure they are. I meant they're proud of them and probably going to beat around the bush on a package deal.

A couple of my groomsman would have probably lost that shite, not knowing what they had. I ended up with one of them; that's how I know it's a decent little knife

I once got a Kershaw Leek for being the best man. That route would be at least half the price of the other two options and they still get a decent knife.

I would see how much a local shop would charge to engrave. With that many it may be a cheaper way to go, and then find a good deal on a bunch of knives online.

Benchmade will engrave themselves but they have limited options on their engraving. I don't even know if the OP wanted engraving.

You can find some smaller benchmade and spyderco for $80-100. Id think a smaller knife would be a better gift for multiple people as they are more likely to use it. I love my 940 but it's probably too big for many guys.

I went down this road for my wedding. From a Benchmade dealer I was getting 10 mini grips for $70/each plus engraving.

Funny you ask this now. I was in a wedding two weeks ago and my buddy got us all Benchmade mini-grips for groomsmen gifts and it was a topic of conversation all weekend. Apparently, he tried to go through Benchmade directly (and another retailer) to no avail. They were giving him the run around about not having mini-grips in stock or something .

He found a store in Slidell called Slidell clocks and knives or something, called them to talk, placed an order, and received all the knives at his door like a week later. He told us the store wound up giving him a pretty significant discount per knife because he bought like 10. Ours weren't engraved, but he did tell us the store offered that, so maybe give them a call.

FYI, this is the store's facebook. It's called Northshore-Southshore Clocks, Watches and Knives. My buddy said the store owner's name is Albert, and he's a really nice guy.

Benchmade has an online customization service for the Griptilian knives, maybe other models by now. You can have almost anything laser imprinted onto the blade (on both sides too), chose blade steel options, handle colors, pocket clip style and finish, etc. I have had 3 knives custom made, one for my brother, father, and myself and all were perfectly made to order.

Just received a Benchmade Torrent from a wedding a couple weeks ago. No engraving.

The Groom bought them from Lafayette Shooters. Not sure if he got a deal (if I was a betting man, I'd say he did) but they may be worth checking out.

I looked into engraved benchmades when I got married 7 years ago. They were around $100 each. I ended up spending that but I bought my guys Mosin Nagants instead. They all say that is the best groomsmen gift they have ever received. I got the Mosins for right at $100 each back then.

bluemoons, excellent suggestion! This is what I was looking for - a local place that can handle the knives plus the engraving.

I may see if they can get me a group buy on some Spyderco knives so I can save a few bucks. 9 times $50-$75 versus $100 per knife is enough savings to matter.

I’ll give Albert a call tomorrow.

Thanks for all the suggestions dudes. KR, I wish I could do Mosins for everyone lol.
