Golf Cart Brands

My wife and I are looking into purchasing a golf cart sometime in the next few months to ride around the neighborhood in. We’re wanting street legal lights, 4 seats, with a little style (lifted, wheels, etc.). I’m a little familiar with the normal brands such as Ez-Go and Club Car. But I’m seeing ads for Green Machine and I know nothing about them. Any experience with them?

Club car is best imo because of aluminum frame. Especially if you ever plan to bring it to beach. I got one from smart carts in Breaux bridge, he’s knowledgeable and has big selection.

I run a 2015 Club Car Precedent, gas engine, lifted with 26" tires. It's a work horse around my property, and fun to cruise down the street in the evenings.

I have a club car and the whole aluminum frame business isn’t that big of deal... considering all of the lift kits and after market accessories are steel and rust faster than the frames would deteriorate anyway

Look into the lithium ion batteries. Converted mine a few months ago. 5 year warranty and more reliable than lead acid. Quick charge time and they have a longer range.

I appreciate all the feedback. Ideally, we'd get a used one in good shape with good new batteries (less than a year old). I hadn't considered the lithium-ion batteries, but that's definitely appealing.
I went online to Gulf Coast Golf Carts (GC Golf Carts), and they have a "build your own" tool for club cars. Looks like 2016 body with new batteries. If purchasing new (based solely on the online tool with no haggling), I'd be looking at just over $7K for a Precedent, 6" lift, street legal kit, bluetooth music kit, upgraded back seat kit, window, LEDs, etc. Obviously I don't need all the bells and whistles but it was neat to just design it on there. Not too bad, but used would still be the way I'd want to go.

Not to hijack the thread, but are prices of golf carts at places like Smart Carts negotiable like vehicles?

You need to look at gas engines if you're just running around the neighborhood, IMO.
batteries will last 3ish years and will be $500-800 to replace.

I hope they don’t find a way to frick you over on your “5 year warranty”. At year three those batteries will take longer to charge and wear down in half the time.

Just my opinion, but this is arse backwards. If I’m cruising around drinking beer on the golf cart, I don’t want to have engine noise. If I’m using it outdoors like hunting, I don’t think engine noise causes anywhere near the disturbance to wildlife as people think it does.

I’m open to either depending on the deal we find once we start really searching.

I agree. And trust me your neighbors don’t want to hear it either.

I've had an ezgo since around 2000. both gas and electric.
for what u want a electric is fine. gas is noisier and may not be allowed in some campgrounds.
my current cart is a 250 terrain [2015 I think and it's gas and I love it to work around my property.
my dad's ezgo finally died and he got a used electric club car and put a utilty bed on if for use at the farm and loves it.
so my point is stick to the big brands and look around long enough to get exactly what u want.
good luck.

I'm also in the market and have settled on the lithium battery option. My toughest decision now is whether to get silver with black seats and a black top or blue with tan seats and a tan top. Any thoughts on black seats and top being too hot? We're primarily going to keep it in my garage and ride around the neighborhood and occasionally take it to Grand Isle and ride on the beach.

I have black and silver seats. The black doesn't get that hot in the sun, and it shows less dirt/stains.

I hate when golf courses have gas carts. Not as peaceful and I hate having to talk over them. Your music will have to be louder too.

I have a Club Car conversion. It’s a 2000 model with camouflage finish and lift kit.I don’t know how I ever did without it.I use it for hunting, riding around the property and yard work, hauling seed and fertilizer for food plots, corn to fill the feeders,etc..I’ve shot quite a few hogs off of it.I have a tilt trailer, when I kill a deer I come home, hook up the trailer and load him up.
The grandkids and the dog love riding around on the property.
I’m on my 3’rd set of batteries,my first 2 sets lasted 51/2 and 5 years.I’ve got 4 years on my present set.
What’s better EZGO or Club Car,I can’t say.I’m happy with mine but I know people with EZGO and they like them .
