What are my options to remove a Gator from my pond in Louisiana?
We could get it, but it’s out of season.

Rifle to the quarter sized kill zone.

Feed him for a week then 22 mag to the spot right past his eyes

Shoot him before he reproduces. Not sure how big your pond is but had a friend with a decent sized lake where previous owner put two male gators in for turtle control. Turns out they werent both male and he had an infestation within two years.

There are more gators than people in Louisiana. Take that info and do what you will with it.

The way I see it, it’s illegal to kill them out of season and without a tag
That being said, they don’t give out enough tags, the market sucks for hides, and they are way overpopulated in LA and MS
I’d follow the law here and (strike through)shoot in in the head with a high powered rifle then let the fish eat it (strike through) call the government

There are removal services that will lawfully remove and relocate them. Just google for your area and you’ll find one

The return rate on farm gators needs to be drastically reduced.

Doesn't Louisiana have a stand your ground law? I'm just kidding, however, you have a right to protect your family and land so discard the alligator and then invite the neighbors over for some Gator gumbo!

You really think anyone is going to give a damn if you kill and process that gator-------except green jeans and tree huggers???
Do it, don't talk about it and profit with meat in the freezer for Alligator Sauce Piquant and sausage.
I know if the opportunity presented itself to me, I'd do the above.

Had a buddy with a sizable pond that would hold alligators after big floods in a nearby bayou. Every couple years he’d have an, uh, expert come out and thread a half chicken onto a big arse hook that was tied to a 4-5’ length of heavy duty cord, then he’d hang that about a foot off the water from a bamboo stalk or tree sapling with the other end of the cord tied to a sturdy tree or a rebar stake. When it was obvious he had the gator on the hook , he’d grab his 22mag and ride his 360 out to where the rope was. He’d run that 360 wide open, along with his blower, and have another buddy, er, expert pull up on the cord and pop the gator. With all the lawn equipment drowning out the 22 no body knew. The later I the day, he’d use his golf cart to tow the alligator off.

It's not like the damn things are still on the "Endangered Species" list. The last time I went fishing out of Delacroix I saw so damn many gators in areas that never had them 20 years ago that it wasn't funny.
In one spot I fished I counted several with most of them in the 8-10+ ft. range.

I’ve been wanting to catch a 4-5’ to put in my pond. I like having a diverse ecosystem

Without any research that seems pretty wild

Don’t advertise his demise. Gators often disappear as quickly as they appear.

Drive down 90 from Boutte to Houma and you will see no less than 6 gators dead on the highway. This time of year is crazy

The drive to Grand Chenier from Lake Charles is littered with gators that have been hit trying to cross the road
