Game Warden/No license/*Update*

Overlords of the OB, need your input please.
Little brother shot a deer 2-3 weeks ago at his friends property, had no license (ironic considering I'm the one who went with him to take his hunter's safety course).
Anyway, game warden has been around asking questions and he's asked me what he should do. My suggestion was to get an attorney involved to facilitate an end to this saga, but you guys are the experts. If anyone has any suggestions, would be happy to receive them. Yes, he's guilty as sin and definitely should've known better than to go hunting w/out a license so that's on him.
Thanks in advance
Edit:
Thanks to all who provided actual input into my brother's dilemma. Here is what has transpired since.
I put my brother in touch with an attorney friend here in town as to discuss his options. The attorney advised him that he can just ignore the eventual calls/FB messages/texts etc. Would highly recommend the Reed Law Firm in Houston. Very good guys and they didn't even charge my brother for their time which was very cool of them. In addition, as this was causing quite a bit of strife for him, I advised him that he should just fall on the damn sword and take his licks. Had it been a felony, it would've been an entirely different situation.
So yesterday after work, he called the game warden direct and told him who he was and that he understood that he was trying to get in touch with him. The game warden was rather thankful (for obvious reasons ) that he got in touch with him. They discussed what happened and the game warden was trying to get him to implicate others "where are the antlers?" etc.etc. Apparently the ranch owner is a d*ck and called the warden a cocks*cker. Real nice.
Resolution of the case is he will be getting a class C misdemeanor ticket in addition to an $800 "donation" to the conservation fund which seems pretty damn steep to me. Ol baw advised that my brother could also do community service in lieu of paying the conservation fund donation but that won't work because it's several hours away.
So thanks again for all of your inputs and this seems like a good lesson learned for a kid who made a mistake. Pretty sure he'll be using better judgement going forward.

how old is little brother?

If he's that worried he should turn himself in. Otherwise, what proof do they have on him?
edit: he should go buy a license anyway to at least give the conservation money lol

How would the game warden know that little bro may or may not have shot a deer 2-3 weeks ago? Is it recorded somewhere with his name next to it (if so, that was dumb).
If not then I would worry too much about it

I don’t deer hunt so this may be a stupid question but it seems like there are stories of greenjeans showing up out of nowhere doing investigative work (this story, the guy that didn’t have the tag on his deer a few days back). Are GW’s just prowling around everywhere sleuthing stuff out? Like this case. Your brother killed a deer on someone’s land, not public where everyone could see and the GW is going around asking questions? How would the GW even know someone killed a deer if it wasn’t tagged and reported?

Step 1. Confirm the suspicions of the game warden on a heavily trafficked message board dedicated to the outdoors where multiple game wardens/feds lurk and post.

if they don't have any proof then deny deny deny
although I bet he posted it on facebook or some sort of social media and that's how GW found out

He's in his mid-20's.
Yea there was a FB photo of him with the deer I think.
I tend to side with this argument truth be told. He's a good kid who didn't use his head by getting a license. And we grew up with licenses as kids so he should've known better.

Who shot the deer etc etc. Apparently my brother had a license last year but didn't re-up it for this season. His friend is the one who turned the deer into the processor.

I know I know, but he's trying to do the right thing here and not get himself into further trouble.

Yes, they do frequently show up asking questions. They're at our camp a good bit. If there's signs of a deer killed recently, they'll ask who what when where etc.
There's nothing wrong with it and you don't have to answer them if you don't want. I'd wager that a large portion of their big busts come from word of mouth around the boat launch and camps. Hunters are generally very willing to rat on anybody they suspect of outlawing who isn't with them. Just stay legal as best you can and you'll be fine. You won't go under the jail for filling out your tag incorrectly or anything.
Shooting deer without a license is probably a little stiffer fine though

This story doesn’t make sense. Been around asking questions? What kind of questions?
Next time green jeans shows up ask him for his search warrant. When he says he doesn’t have one, politely tell him to get off your property.

need more info to help with a comment. kinda vague about GW questions, and so forth.

They have to prove his guilt, he doesn't have to prove his innocence.

Then your brother is a dumbass just like the kids who posted the pic of the high fence deer. He should own up to it and pay whatever fine comes with the offense.

I don't know about LA, but a Mississippi ticket for hunting without a license is like $1,600 so just know that "doing the right thing and turning himself in" is going to be a costly fricker. Plus they can take the gun and deer as well

Yep, pay the idiot tax and move on.
