Goodness, we aren't talking about a murder here or a guy that shot a monster buck on someone else's property without permission. My guess is the GW's stopped by the camp randomly. If the little bro was allowed to shoot the deer on the land, and the deer was processed the only thing illegal was not buying a license. I very much doubt the GW's will spend more than a half day of their time tracking something like that down if they have sure fire info there was a crime committed.

OP has implied that they came around after seeing a Facebook post.

Didn't have a license, didn't tag the deer properly. Buddy illegally tagged a deer.

trophy status doesnt have a lot of weight in game violations.

No one said he was trespassing.

Harvesting a deer without a license, then using anothers tags is probably pretty serious.

License sales support a whole lot of the LDWF. They will do everything they can to encourage the purchase of them. A story of a big fine will be a good technique to persuade others to pony up.

I never saw where he implied that?If so, then yeah he best talk to a lawyer or turn himself in.

You really think Game Wardens go around and search every pic on facebook to see if they have a license? Would not be a bad idea, but I highly doubt they do this.

Probably follow some of the hunting pages. I doubt they go searching out 1000s of profiles though.

Yes, and shortly after they finished people were trying to fry a deer track if they were lucky enough to see one.

Certainly. OP never said anything about it being a big buck or anything, if the guy shot a nice buck and put it online to brag after not having a license then yeah he's a jack arse and should go fess up and take his punishment.

The way I read the OP is the guy doesn't hunt much and went with some friends hunting one day, and shot a decent buck. First one possibly in a while so he puts it online. Some guys put their doe kills online, so there's a difference between putting a pic up as a harvest pic and putting one up acting like johnny badass.

GW don’t need a search warrant.

OP probably doesn't want to give it up for fear of a green jeans being on here, but I would be curious, if they know, why green jeans showed up.

Was it a FB post? Was it someone tipped them off?

Mississippi really hates out of state hunters.

Louisiana started all this shite when they upped the out of state fishing license and didn't want to play nice with Mississippi. Mississippi offered reciprocity with the hunting license (in-state fee vs out-of-state fees), IF Louisiana would do the same with the fishing licenses. LA said gfy and MS obliged.

Think of what could have been. Hunt in MS for ~$50 instead of ~$400, and they get to fish for ~$35 instead of ~$350...

A lot of MS people like to fish out of LA and a lot of LA people like to hunt in MS, too bad they couldn't play nice.

Number one rule when dealing with law enforcement when they suspect you have done something wrong (no matter if you did or didn't): keep your mouth closed and if it escalates get an attorney

The cops aren't "your friends" in those situations. It amazes me that criminals don't know when to shut up when questioned by the police. Definitely don't admit to the crime if you did, because you just screwed up your defense when it goes to trial.

I disagree, if you cooperate and tell the truth the fine is most often minimal. If the officer puts in his report that you didnt cooperate, the judge/DA will go after you.

That's exactly what they do. It's too easy for them these days.
