I'm in the process of selecting a new pair of Costa's. Anyone have experience with both plastic and glass lenses? Thinking of upgrading to glass but was looking for local reviews.

I have 2 pair that are glass and love them (Harpoon and Fantail). I looked on the other day on their website and it seemed many of them had a synthetic lens... I'm hoping they still make glass lenses. My choice is glass, for sure.

Get glass for the scratch resistance if nothing else. Their glass lenses used to be sorta heavy but several years ago they started making them thinner. Optics-wise the plastic lenses are fine, but while I don’t abuse my glasses I’m not ultra-careful with them either. Glass works better for me.

Do not buy plastic. They will scratch, they always seem dirty, and they aren't as vibrant as the glass.
You might as well buy some cheap sunglasses if you're getting the plastic Costas, b/c that's what they are, cheap, except you aren't paying a cheap amount.

Costco has Maui Jim sunglasses with glass lenses for about $100, I might try those out.

Maui Jim’s are the best lenses I’ve ever worn. I’ve got the stingrays.

I wear sunglasses every day as I have had serious eye issues including two retena detachments as well as a cornea replacement. My eyes have always been light sensitive. I also have to have bifocals or I can’t tie knots etc.
My recommendations. Maui Jim, costa high dollar, sun clouds etc 40 bucks

My ruless: Must be polarized, glass is always better than plastic, coated is better than uncoated, match color of lense with water. Reflective lens is great on hot summer say but sucks for hunting.

Put them on a neck strap and you will not lose them

I have had Maui Jim’s for close to a decade. I’ll wear them until I can’t and replace them with Maui Jim’s.

Smiths or Costas are hard to beat. MJ is solid option too. Just make sure you get glass lenses

I bought a $30 pair at Sportsmans Warehouse to replace my $150 Natives that were stolen and they are awesome.

I have a set of rayban frames that are perfect for me. Lenses were worn, so i tried out FUSE lenses and its perfect for me. I have 5 different lense colors and can swap them out to whatever I want.

Way cheaper than buying new sunglasses and the lenses are all high quality

My costas are 15 years old and I love them. But I don't know if they still "make them like they used to."

I have used most of the large manufactures and have had deals with a few of them. Coasta, Smith, Ray Ban, etc. When it gets down to it, Maui Jims are the best glasses for me. Best fit, most clear and clearest of all of them.

I dont have any deal with Maui, I pay for them like every one else

Ive been a Costa guy for years. This past year my wife bought me a pair of Maui Jim's for Father's Day and I can say now that I wish I had swapped to them years ago. I like them so much more than my Costa's

I had a pair of Maui’s with rose colored lenses that I loved. Lost them on a lake in Oklahoma somehow. Bought the same frame with the grey lenses but I haven’t fished with them yet. Those rose colored lenses were great for redfish in the marsh.

I have a few pairs of costas, I get them on ebay so I'm not paying full retail. I know people have had different experiences but they've been good to me on a few warranty claims I've made.
