re: 2015 Jeep Wrangler JK thoughts…

Not sure if you'd be interested but my sister has a 19 wrangler unlimited for sale right now with 81k for $21500. I don't have a link but its on marketplace and know it hasn't been ragged out.
I still have a keltec pf9 that I cant find. I'm hoping its still somewhere in my attic. I moved all of my guns to the attic while we were renovating after Ida. Its the only one I cant track down. Hoping it will show up when I eventually go up there and clean it out.

Used them a while back to fix my hydraulic steering. It was easy to get an appt and they did great work. Really good people to do business with.

re: Rods shipped in plastic?

Posted by joeyp on 6/18/25 at 9:13 am to
Had one shipped like that and they used usps to ship. Arrived at my doorstep with about 4" of the tip broken off. Put in for a replacement and they sent me one in an cardboard box. It was broken in half when I opened the box. They ended up refunding me since they were out of replacements. I didn't have to send them back for a return so I put a tip top on the one and submitted a warranty claim with 13 fishing for the other. I ended up getting 2 free rods out of the deal but was definitely a headache.

re: DC baitcaster reels, worth it?

Posted by joeyp on 6/16/25 at 10:37 am to
I own mostly diawas so I am partial to them but I like having the sv reels that serve the same purpose as the DC's without the whining noise on every cast. The DC's are nice reels no doubt though, its all about preference.
I just added 3 lithiums for my trolling motor and I've had a lithium starting battery going on 2 years now. I have a Merc 300R and was cautious about purchasing it when there were so many original disclaimers from mercury about not using them. Before I ordered it, Mercury released that lithiums with certain specs were good to use so I consulted with drewcraft marine and they lined me up with the correct battery. Its an ionic lithium starting battery and its been great so far. It wasn't much more than the agm I needed to replace and came with a better warranty. I can't speak on anything for a yamaha but wanted to share my good experience with the setup I have.

Should be really good as long as the water looks good. I've had luck with topwater early catching good specks and bluefish. When that bite died off Id switch over to a mirrodine and caught some good ones. I know guys catch hammers on live croakers out there as well.

Yeah we went to Elmers Saturday early. When the sun came up I realized the water looked like chocolate milk. Caught 4 sail cats and that was it. Don't think I'll be making any more trips where a west wind is blowing.

I put seadek down in the cockpit floor of my ranger and love it. I'd love to eventually do my entire boat and get rid of the carpet.

I would go with a Daiwa Tatula SV or a Shimano SLX DC. These will help with backlashes. Depending on your location, I might would let one of my SV's go for a decent price.
I put volquartsen triggers in a few that I have built.

I have one of these available and I'm pretty sure it has the 3 in 1 transducer. Didn't use it that long before I sold my boat and took it off.
We went with mostly Signature Kitchen suite when we remodeled our kitchen after Ida. The wait wasn't quite as long as thermador's at the time. They are very high quality appliances. Dishwasher and drawer microwave work great. We have one wall oven and we have the 48" range with the built in sous vide which is awesome. We went with the frigidaire professional column fridge and freezer and have been happy with it as well. The combo was half the price of the signature model.

The wall and by the locks. Could’ve filled the boat up with blue cats too.

We went saturday and had a decent day. Think we had 19 keeper trout and probably threw back another 25 unders. Surprisingly no sheeps and only 1 rat red. We did catch 2 flounder which was a nice surprise. All on live or dead shrimp.

re: Glass or composite cranking rods?

Posted by joeyp on 11/14/23 at 8:43 am to
I bought a new shimano zodias last year to see how I liked them to throw small squarebills. After throwing it a bit, I liked using my older daiwa tatula xt crankbait rod instead. Its a graphite rod with a softer tip. It casts the smaller cranks better and can feel more with it. Both are 7' M rods. I do like using the zodias for bigger sqaurebills like the 1.5s. I also bought a 7'3 MH glass zodias to try for chatterbaits and I love it. It casts the 3/8 jackhammer really well and I can feel more thump than the graphite rod I was using before it.

re: Boat carpet installer in NOLA area?

Doug at D&T Boatworks is the only one I know of in the area and he's in Livingston. There may be others but not sure.

I saw that combo in Venice a few weeks ago. Bet it runs well.
Change out my carpeted deck lids to ranger's intercoastal ones with seadek. Swap ultrex for new power pole move trolling motor, add another graph for livescope, change trolling batteries to lithium, change out old 360 to new mega 360, add another graph at console, and have a custom aluminum painted trailer made with the ranger fenders.
Got my 3 in last night. Great rod for only $20!
didnt need them but hard to pass up.
