Nah. I've got some somewhat "roach killers", but prefer the ropers.

Another vote for Ariat Heritage Ropers from me. Very comfortable. No square toe. Great all-around boot. Can work in them and then go out for dinner.

You talking about ropers with a lower heel than on traditional boots?

All right to start off I know I am going to catch hell for this opinion because it is definitely not the norm on here. Why would anyone want to wear cowboy boots everyday?

My take:

Some of us have jobs that are outside, dusty/mud/wet, you name it. These jobs also include meetings inside. There aren't a lot of options on good looking shoes that can take the wide variety without changing shoes two-three times a day that are comfortable, hold up well, and can wear winter or summer. I have one of those jobs - my boots are 3 years old still going strong. My previous boots are still around, 10 yrs old and still wear them from time to time.

I have a few pairs of ariats that i will sell for about half the price of what they sell for in the stores. But they are steel toe. Let me know if you're interested.

I have been wearing Tecovas for the last six months or so. I got the roper version, calf, in the "bourbon" color. Easy to wear, not too Western-looking, and affordable. I recommend them.

Ariats are made by chinamen. I've had a pair of Red Wing Pecos for going on 7 years. They're the most comfortable thing I've ever put on my feet to date also. They American made, by American products, and you can send them back to be resoled by Red Wing cobblers for only 100 bucks. Increase your budget and get some Red Wings.

I used to wear Ariats on the farm. They’re a good boot, very comfortable, they just couldn’t hold up. One year of work and they’d be falling apart on me. Eventually I swapped to Red Wing Pecos because of this and I usually get two years out of them. They also fit just as well and break in to be very comfortable.

Square toe boots have been around for a decade or so just based on my memory

Yeah, they've been around much longer than that.

I've heard a lot of praise for these boots.

I wear steel toes every day at work. But I'm with you here. I kick them damn things off as soon as possible.

ETA: My steel toes are Ariat Workhogs

I'm no redneck, but I've grown to appreciate western boots over the past couple of years. That said I only own Square Toe's, one of which is a Steel Toe for work. I would look absolutely ridiculous with the pointy or snip toe. I couldn't pull it off. I am looking to upgrade to a Smooth Quill Ostrich Boot.

Right. Plus, you never know when you might get called upon to kick a field goal.

Good grief the number of red necks up in here. I can't believe these boots are still a thing. Why do you people continue to wear these horrible things?
I wear redwings. You seem like the penny loafer type.
