re: Everyday "cowboy" boots?
I owned a real nice Lucchese boot with python lowers and calfskin uppers. I wore them on a day ride on my motorcycle since the weather looked great when I left, plus my motorcycle had a heel/toe shifter where I never had to touch the shift lever with the top of the lowers of my boot.

Long story short, I got caught in a hell of a rainstorm on my ride and the python skin scales curled up and looked like crap when the boots finally dried. That was a $500 pair of boots ruined in one afternoon. Live and learn.

Square toe boots have been around for a decade or so just based on my memory. They are way more comfortable and thereby more functional for me. I'm not wearing them for the looks.

Nah. What’s gay is a riding heel

Been around horses my entire life and I don’t know anyone that actually wears that

Good grief the number of red necks up in here. I can't believe these boots are still a thing.

Why do you people continue to wear these horrible things?

Boots in general or those ugly square toes?

I have some Ariat Wellington boots I wear everyday. I keep them oiled, but they look better than new. Can wear with jeans, slacks or scrubs. Comfortable, great boot. I’ve always worn redwings before. They are good too.

Ariat Heritage Ropers. Had a pair for 10 years and they’re as comfortable as tennis shoes. Wore them weekly and have walked miles in them with no discomfort. Outside started to show their age so I kept them as backup pair and brought a brand new pair. I will wear them as long as they make them.

A good cobbler can work wonders with those boots if you give them a chance. I've had some nice results from a good shoe repair shop in the past, but that is a dying craft.

Some are comfortable as hell and last a long time. I wear a pair of Lucchese ropers to the office quite often. They are 5-6 years old and look good with pants or jeans.

All right to start off I know I am going to catch hell for this opinion because it is definitely not the norm on here. Why would anyone want to wear cowboy boots everyday? Any situation you are wearing cowboy boots there is a better option unless you are riding a horse. Especially slick arse leather bottom boots. I’ve also worn Ariat boots and they just do not compare to a good lace up boot or even a Wellington. I really just don’t get it and I wear boots every day on the farm.

I don't understand why, especially in the South.

I definitely wear them less May through September. Most comfortable pair of shoes I own otherwise.

I had a bad case of gout 2 years ago. I sucked it up and came to work wearing my Ariats. My boss asked why I wasn't wearing comfortable shoes. Those ARE my comfortable shoes.

re: Everyday "cowboy" boots?
Most of the year I’m in khaki shorts and leather flip flops every day. But any time I wear jeans or long pants (church, night out, etc.) I wear my boots. They are literally the most comfortable pair of shoes I’ve worn. I have a pair of Dan Post Ostrich skin boots that are for weddings, etc. They aren’t uncomfortable throughout the night but it’s definitely nice to kick them off at the end of the night.

Ariats are made by chinamen. I've had a pair of Red Wing Pecos for going on 7 years. They're the most comfortable thing I've ever put on my feet to date also. They American made, by American products, and you can send them back to be resoled by Red Wing cobblers for only 100 bucks. Increase your budget and get some Red Wings.
